Walk Safely to School Day – Friday 24 May
Walk Safely to School Day asks that we all consider our
transport habits and try to incorporate more walking as
part of a healthy, active way to get around. And although
walking all the way to school isn’t realistic for many of us,
it’s quite easy to figure out how you can build a walk into
your family’s daily routine.
You can teach your child the healthy habit of walking
more by:
Walking with them the whole way to school
If they get the bus or train, walk past your usual
stop and get on at the next stop
If you have to drive, park the car a few blocks
away from the school and walk the rest of the way.
Regular exercise like walking with your child not only
helps them (and you!) beat chronic problems like obesity,
heart disease, behavioural and mental health issues and
diabetes, it also gives you a great opportunity to teach
your child safe ways to behave around roads and traffic.
Remember, Active Kids are Healthy Kids so get planning
your own Walk Safely to School Day journey for Friday
24 May 2013!

Students will receive a sticker on

appreciated.
Bunning BBQ - Saturday, 11 May
I know the weekend is busy, but we would really
appreciate any help you could give us on Saturday at our
Bunnings BBQ Fundraiser at Morisset. We particularly
need helpers in the afternoon - anytime from 12:30pm-
4:00pm. We may only have a few people who may need to
be there most of the day - so even helping us for an
hour would be great as it enables others to have a break.
You are most welcome to pop in on the day, or just leave
me a message at the office on Friday.
All money raised goes towards air-conditioning for the
classrooms.
Thanks
Jeanette Mangan
Canteen News
Thanks to Katia, Carmine, Danielle and Niki for
volunteering, it is very much appreciated.
Congratulations to Blythe and Chloe Slade for winning the
‘Good Manners’ Award. It is getting so hard to choose
only two students as all should be proud and know the
canteen helpers appreciate your wonderful behaviour.
Don’t forget we have recess specials - they range from
Garlic & Chicken Balls, Hashbrowns and Fairy Bread, and
coming up soon - Garlic Bread, Pikelets and Ham, Cheese
& Tomato Pizza Subs.
Prices range from 80c down to 5c.
I will have what special we are having on the day on the
notice board outside the canteen each morning.
If you would like to volunteer please see me or the office
staff.
Thank you
