Olevano Biomass Power plant:
The 20 MWe plant will deliver 140 Gwhe/yof renewable energy, consuming roughly200,000 tons/year of biomass. 70% of theplant’s wood chips will come from a shortsupply chain, bringing economic andsocial benefits to the local area. The plantwill also allow reduction of emission intothe environment of more than 100,000tons/year of CO2 by replacing electricitygeneration from fossil fuel plant.
CSP research activities:
Met NewEn is now studying, incooperation with ENEA, a 30 MWe plant inSicily to demonstrate the potential ofdirect molten salts systems. It is carryingout extensive studies and acquired high-value technical know-how in CSP(Concentrated Solar Power) parabolictrough technology using molten salts asthe heat transfer fluid.
