Magazine Photoshoot Plan

Introduction
• Over the next couple of slides I will be planning my photo shoot. I intend to create an ideal photo for my front cover, contents page and double page spread.
• I will be looking at all my preliminary sketches and trying to match up my sketches with my final product and evaluating whether or not it is suitable for my front cover.
Preliminary Sketches
Images re-coloured so it is more visible
Type of shot
• The main shot I would like to do is a mid shot.– This type of shot will give my audience I view of my cover
from approximately the waist up– This type of shot may also give my audience a clue about
who the artist is and what genre they belong in
• I’m going to take the shot straight on– The main idea behind this is so that the audience can get a
straight on view of my model
• Lighting– The room would be brightly lit
Mise-En-Scene (Male Model)
• Location: My primary location is an indoor location• Lighting: Mainly a brightly lit room• Costume: I have chosen to dress my artist in a
hoodie. He would also show parts of his chest• Iconography:– Eye glasses– Textbooks
Mise-En-Scene (Female Model)
• Location: My primary location is an indoor location• Lighting: Mainly a brightly lit room• Costume: My model would be wearing a school
uniform type look (check connotations)• Iconography:– Eye glasses– Textbooks
Connotations• Male Model Connotations
– Hoodie• The hoodie is to suggest that the artist is an artist of the “streets”
– Showing models chest• Whilst researching R&B magazine conventions, the R&B cover artist
shows their chest the genre could be seen to be “sexual”
– Eye glasses & textbook• The eye glasses and the text book are to go along with the DPS
article. The glasses and text book make the artist look smart
• Female Model Connotations– School Uniform
• The uniform is to suggest that school is the place where it all started
– Eye glasses & textbook• Look above
Pictures – Front CoverThe main idea of these images is to show one side of R&B. R&B is often stereotyped to have “sexy images of the model. Here is an example of what I may use for my front cover.
The fact my model has some of his chest shown, gives of the “sexy vibe”. With spaces around him, it makes it easier for me to put text, buttons etc. around my model when constructing my front cover.
Pictures – Contents Page
The extreme close-up of my models face gives the audience an idea of what is likely to be going through my models mind. The extreme close-up could be a key indicator to my models facial expressions.
Pictures - DPS
My DPS image is of my model standing under a bridge with very low key lighting. This gives off a sense of mystery and that my models face isn’t seen.
