618 Additional MEEP Projects Approved
The Government of Saskatchewan has announced that anadditional 618 projects, representing more than $22 million ofprovincial funding, have been approved through the MunicipalEconomic Enhancement Program (MEEP).
The latest projects receiving funding include:Northern Hamlet of Cole Bay: $24,434 for a lagoon expansionTown of Turtleford: $71,289 to repave Main StreetVillage of Calder: $12,936 for a community hall renovationVillage of Love: $7,186 for street repairs
MEEP 2020 funding must be used by municipalities by March 31, 2022.

Convention resolutions are one wayMunicipalities of Saskatchewan members canget their issues to the forefront. You cansubmit resolutions to Municipalities ofSaskatchewan anytime during the year, butthe deadline for Convention 2021 isNovember 1.

To encourage participation in municipal governance and increase understanding of what itmeans to be on council, Municipalities of Saskatchewan created a series of free virtualsessions designed for anyone who has an interest in municipal politics or who is thinkingof running for council in the upcoming municipal elections.

The application deadline for the fallintake of the Community InitiativesFund Community Grant Program isOctober 1. The program is open tomunicipalities, health region, schools,and incorporated nonprofitorganizations.
If your municipality has a project ideathat would enhance the quality of lifefor residents, apply today. Theprogram funds projects that fall underone of three funding themes:
healthy growth anddevelopment of children andyouthindividual and communitywellbeingnonprofit and communityleadership.

Advocacy UpdateRun, Win, Lead: Toward Parity in Municipal Politics
Last year, Municipalities of Saskatchewan held thewebinar Toward Parity at the Council Table . Municipal leaderswere invited to attend and learn more about the Federation ofCanadian Municipalities' (FCM) Toward Parity in MunicipalPolitics initiative and discuss ways to overcome barriers toparticipation in municipal politics.
Based on your feedback, and the feedback gathered throughconsultations across Canada, FCM drafted a national action
plan to increase women’s participation in municipal politics.Municipalities of Saskatchewan members had the opportunity topreview the action plan in our June webinar Run, Win, Lead:Toward Parity in Municipal Politics.
FCM has now officially launched the framework, which identifiesactions and opportunities that individuals, local government,regional bodies, as well as national bodies can undertake toinfluence and promote women’s full participation.
Involved in the project was Municipalities of SaskatchewanCentral Region Director Lee Finishen.
