The Silverlake Conservatory of Music
This project is a total interior renovation. Keeping only the bow trusses and exterior walls, a series of small independent volumes were designed within the open floor plan to foster the various instuctional and performance spaces. Working with a multidisciplinary team of designers and engineers, I have ushered the project from schematic design through construction documents, a process which included a detailed master land-use permit application. I also actively coordinate with consultants and attend regular site meetings in the field.

Thinking beyond barrier-free housing, Grey Gardens proposes a new model for senior living. Antithetical to existing models, such as retirement developments in the desert, which tend to sequester its seniors from the surrounding community, this project seeks to integrate its residents into the vibrant, urban fabric. The open courtyard and commercial spaces provide amenities for its residents while also attracting the general public and activating the site.

While at Bestor Architecture, I have taken the primary project management role on multiple single-family residential renovations. My projects ranged from small kitchen remodels to substantial additions (1000+ SF) for historical and/or craftsman-style homes. Under the guidance of the principle, I was in charge of all aspects of project development and construction administration. My many duties included navigating the permitting process, meeting with clients, managing budgets and coordinating with contractors and consultants.

Playful HorizonsAN EXPLORATION IN “PLAY”
Playground in Battle Creek, MI; Summer 2014w/ MAde Studio
We were approached by a community organization to design a low-budget playground for its daycare. We proposed a simple bent play structure, a refurbished hoophouse and learning garden. The playline appeals to each child’s imagination through its ambiguity created by its many twists, undulations and height changes. Its formlessness is open to interpretation and allows each child a unique play experience depending on his/her height, age, motor skills, etc.
