Collaboration research Ideas Portfolio
● Idea 1 – « Enterprise Architecture for Cloud Transition »
● Idea 2 – « Interoperability of Clouds - issues for a better Governance »
● Idea 3 – « Service Oriented Computing as leveraging for Cloud Computing Transition »
● Idea 4 – « e-gov and cloud computing - IT strategy and Business models for emergent countries »
11/15
(CC) Prof. Karim Baïna, ENSIAS at « Les Journées Technologies du Cloud Computing », UCAM, Marrakesh, April 20 & 23, 2012
Idea 1 – « Enterprise Architecture for Cloud Transition »
● Opportunities :– There are no standards today for integrating all
heterogeneous components on the cloud. So unless your business is completely served by cloud services, you will have a hybrid solution – which will require EA
– Cloud computing adopted without taking into consideration Enterprise Architecture will yield “spaghetti clouds” (aligned with “spaghetti architectures”)
● Research Questions :– What EA facilities may offer for cloud-IT & in-house IT
hetereogeneous services governance ?
– How EA may enable cloud to impact Business Strategies and help organisation change ?
12/15

Idea 2 – « Interoperability (i14y) of Clouds - issues for a better
Governance »● Opportunities :
– Cloud provider uses differents protocols, virtualisation plaftorms, and administration tools (hypervisors, trafic managers, etc.)
– Managing multi-provider platform implies beeing able to manage execution and interoperation among those différents clouds
● Research Questions :– What will be different possible scenarii of
interoperation of clouds ?
– What will be new communication standards and protocols of to be defined to achieve i14y ?
13/15
(CC) Prof. Karim Baïna, ENSIAS at « Les Journées Technologies du Cloud Computing », UCAM, Marrakesh, April 20 & 23, 2012
Idea 3 – « Service Oriented Computing as leveraging for Cloud
Computing Transition »● Opportunities (5 Reasons) :
– (i) accessibility through a SOA interface, (ii) visibility through SOA discovery tools and techniques, (iii) extensibility (customisation) through SOA techniques, (iv) SLA control through SOA contract-management techniques, (v) and adherence to standards through SOA policy management techniques
● Research Questions :– Are SOA standard (security, asynchonous messaging,
reliability, transactions...) protocols & mechanimss ready for managing properly in-house and coud services ?

Idea 4 – « e-gov and cloud computing - IT strategy and Business models for
emergent countries »
● Opportunities :– Cloud computing capabilities will enhance collaboration and
mutualisation in e-gov systems
– Cloud computing applied to e-gov will impact processes, technology and people in adminitrations IT organisations
● Research Questions :– What are best & worst practices of adopting Cloud
Computing within national e-Government Strategy (especially for local e-Government strategic roadmap)
– How to measure and manage data quality of of a public information system (data integrity, data availability, data loss protection, data security, data interoperability), computing based context ?
