the purchase of new instruments, cases, equipment, and the restoration
of those in need of repair
the purchase of sheet music for our choirs and orchestras.

VISIT DAYS & AUDITIONS
VISIT DAYS We hold a number of Visit Days during the Autumn and Spring terms for prospective students and
their parents to come and see the Department in action. Visitors will be able to observe orchestral
and chamber music rehearsals, be shown round by current JD parents and have a chance to ask
questions of members of staff including the Head of Junior Programmes, Miranda Francis. Dates
will be published on our website (www.rcm.ac.uk/junior/aboutrcmjd/visitingthercm) by the end
of September and places need to be booked in advance. Please see the website for details of
how to book.
APPLICATION PROCESS We will be accepting online applications for places starting in September 2019 from January
2019. Full details of the process are available from our website and the closing date for
applications will be 1 March 2019. If you would like an email reminder when full details are
available, please email [email protected].
AUDITIONS Auditions will be held during February, March and April 2019. Most applicants will only be
required to attend one audition, however as we usually have large numbers of violin and piano
applications, these applicants may be required to pass two rounds of auditions. Dates for all
auditions will be published on our website in January.
LATE APPLICATIONS If you would like to enquire about submitting an application after the closing date, please contact
the JD office (via [email protected]).
Late application enquiries are dealt with on a case-by-case basis and we are only able to offer
late auditions if there are appropriate spaces still available.
