What is that you dislike about yourself? Is it those
melancholic eyes of yours which never cease to find
beauty, be it in the darkest of night or the ugliest of
people, or is it those freckles which adorn your face
like stardust or maybe those nesh lips which never
utter a single woe, it must be the galaxies you possess
for a brain, which you fail to fathom into words. Is it
your heart, which might be fragmented but still refuses
to stop beating, or is it your soul which burns too bright
for this world? People too often forget that their self-
worth is not determined by what others think of them
but by what they think of themselves as individuals.
We too often forget that the universe took it’s time on
us, crafted us precisely so we could offer the world
something distinct from everyone else. All our beauty
and flaw was handpicked to never be replaced or
replicated. We are all born so utterly beautiful, the
biggest tragedy is to be convinced that we aren’t. Every flaw that you cuss at and wish you didn’t have,
was bestowed upon you for a reason. Those flaws are
your perks. So when we doubt ourselves, we doubt an
energy greater than the both of us. -Chaitali Singh (Editor)

Teacher’s Desk
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high – A
prayer I often recall being a part of the morning assembly
during my school days. It was indeed fun to shout in unison
as the principal read the prayer and we recited after him.
Proudly we’d hold up our heads on the second line as if to symbolize that we had no fear. Back then, fear had only one
meaning- being scared of the dark. As I grew older I realized
that fear came in all sorts of colors and variety. Like the fear
of not being safe, fear of being weak, fear of height or that
of water and so on. But there’s yet another kind of fear- the
one that originates from our own actions!
Often we need to choose between righteousness and
immorality. Treading on the path of life we are faced with
different situations and circumstances. We fear failure or loss
of reputation whether it’s in relation to society, colleagues, friends or even family. To save ourselves from disgrace and
embarrassment, we resort to unethical and devious
practices. However, we forget that besides our family, friends
or society, there’s a very essential being who judges us at
every step- our conscience. When we take on to dishonest
ways, our inner self or conscience uses its often sound
judgement to censure our actions. This disapproval slowly
leads to the formation of a negative image in our own
subconscious mind and gradually we start despising our own
selves. Then steps in a new fear- the fear of facing ourselves.
We are reminded time and again of the things we’ve done and even though nobody else knows, we feel conscious or
even embarrassed (When those around us talk of morals and
ethics). This guilt or fear of disclosure fills our minds and we
are unable to hold our head high!
We must listen to our conscience and let it decide the right
and wrong for us. This assists us in overcoming fear and
creating a positive image of ours in the mind. Facing the
world with a clear and positive mind not only makes us
confident but also a likeable character. It’s indeed the only mantra to rid the mind of fear and hold the head high-
always have a clear conscience.

On the 14th of July every year, there
is an enthralling celebration of the
Bastille Day in our school. All the
students with great enthusiasm put
up various performances which
received endless applause from
the audience. The participants with
all their morning energy and fervor
commenced the assembly with a
melodious song that was
dedicated to their mothers. The
beautiful song left the audience
spellbound and was followed by
yet another utterly marvelous
dance performance. The dance
performance which was put up by
the French students from grades 5th
to 10th was a spectacle to behold,
and then the most awaited of them
all-The Fashion Show was presented
by budding fashionists of grade 8,9
and 10. The auditorium was filled
with vigor and exuberance, no one
wished to leave the hall as the
assembly got over with the singing
of the French national anthem.

Investiture Ceremony
A long followed custom in the annals of MVN’s Academic Excellence is to nurture young minds and
bring out the leader, the mentor, the creator and
the activist in them. This is cultivated through posts,
responsibilities and honouraries given to them after
many rounds of assessment of the students’ overall capabilities. This solemn ceremony was conducted
on 27th July with the other students of class X and XI
sitting in the audience. The program was
commenced with a vigourating speech by Ms.
Archna Sharma who also took up the responsibility
of introducing the new Council Members. All
members were given their badges and were
invested with their respective responsibilities by our
respected Principal, Ms. Neeta Arora, along with the
coordinators, Ms. Mona Dua and Ms. Deepti Hans.
The entire Council then took a pledge to fulfill their
duties with full dedication and to uphold the values
and standards of our Institution. The valedictory
function ended with the Principal delivering a
speech which instilled a desire in the entire Council
to meet up to the expectations of the entire
management and to bridge the gap between the
students and the management.

Road Show
.
"Art, Freedom and
Creativity can change
the society faster than
Politics"
Contemplating on this
principle, A Road Show
was organized based on
the theme 'Society and
Development'. The
students of class X,
section-wise in groups of
10-15, put in their efforts to
spread the much needed
awareness about several
issues in our Society that
obstruct the way of
development in our
nation. Many issues such
as Female Foeticide,
Dowry and Child Labour
were highlighted. The
winning performance was
that of class X-D, that
discussed the problem of
Drug Abuse among the
present generation.

A very special and earmarked
assembly was presented by the Little
Champs of VIII A, B and C. They
were given a platform to show their
talents where they blasted the stage
with their performances. VIII A was
given the topic Eid, and the students
exhibited its importance through a
play and a dance with a lot of vigour
and fervour. Ardency was all over the
auditorium. It was followed by VIII B
on Raksha Bandhan. The emotional
presentation of the play touched the
hearts and souls of the people
present. The thought was an
impressive one too. Next, the most
awaited festival of Janmashtami was
presented by VIII C. The singing
sensations made tears roll out of all
the eyes present. The Assembly was
shown in a very interactive and
conjoint manner. Overall, it was a
great success as the three classes
performed together in sync. The
auditorium was filled with warmth and
zeal, and an ecstatic applause was
given by the audience for the
sedulous hard work of the teachers
and the students.

Travelogue
On July 1st, we went on a school trip to one of
the most beautiful hill stations of India, Manali.
The excitement was palpable while the
children eagerly waited for the time of
departure to come. The bus journey was filled
with fun and laughter throughout. We made
several stops on our way to get snacks and
dinner. When we reached the hotel the next
day, everyone, exhausted from the long
journey rushed to get to their room. After
breakfast, we were given some time to relax
and freshen up before being taken to the
Buddhist Monastery, it was a mesmerizing
place full of greenery. We had DJ nights every
evening which was one of the best things
about this trip. We visited quite a lot of places
like the Hadimba Temple, which was one long
walk. We also went to the famous Mall Road,
where we bought wonderful stuff for ourselves
all the while enjoying with our friends. We
visited various other local tourist spots too. I'll
have to say, out of them all, Solang Valley was
probably the best place. Standing at the top
of a mountain, looking at the picturesque
valleys and mountains made me realize the
true magnificence of that heavenly place. The
gloom of the last day of the trip was clear on
everyone's face as we all boarded the buses,
bidding goodbye to the place where all of us
had had the time of our lives and made
memories that will last forever. It was one trip
that I don't ever wish to forget in my life.
As soon as we boarded the bus we were undoubtedly excited. The whole night passed
and none of us could sleep. Though late at night, our excitement had no end and we
danced for a long time in the bus. Each and every halt on the way rejuvenated us. As
we started to go up the hills, the natural beauty left us speechless and before we knew it
we had reached Mukteshwar. We freshened up and started exploring the hotel, setting
up luggage in our rooms, and then went on a trek where we met some of the local
people. The trek got us so tired that we had to plead the guides for letting us rest and
before we knew it photo sessions had begun. The return track was really amazing. After
coming back a hearty meal awaited us in the dining hall. We then started off with
various camping activities, we came back after that and found ourselves worn out and
exhausted and went right to our beds.
The chirping of the birds and the sun shining brightly was our wake-up alarm. We knew
that day would be yet another day full of thrills and excitement. Each day an
adventurous activity, full of fun and frolic awaited us. After quickly finishing off with the
nutritious breakfast, we went to a nearby lake for river crossing and then for rappelling.
The landscape there left us dumbstruck, the mountains and rivers seemed so perfect.
Each day as the sun set we would find ourselves outside the hotel rooms on the terrace
laughing and enjoying with friends and teachers while the bonfire and music
accompanied us. The experience of star gazing was beautiful, it seemed as if they were
gems studded in the sky. Each one of us would get our mobile phones, hunt down
constellation names from the internet and begin searching it. We got ourselves
accustomed to the chilly breeze during the night. Each night after the much tiring and
super exhausting day we would get into our beds with our friends and wrap ourselves with
quilts and blankets, hoping that we don’t catch cold and soon fall asleep. All of us wanted to share each and every moment of our trip, the fun we had with all our friends;
with our parents. The trip was a much enjoyed one and an unforgettable one.

With an aim to sensitize the students of the
middle wing about the augmenting issues,
‘Society and Development’ was chosen as the
theme for the months of June and July. The
school organized various activities to instill values
in the students and to aware them about the
increasing social evils. Students of grade 8th
participated in a scroll making competition,
where they exhibited their creativity and artistry
with great dexterity, while the students of grade
9th enthusiastically partook in a standup comedy
competition.

ART EXHIBITION
“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at
the same time”
This principle comes to life when you see the students
working, completely absorbed, to bring their artistry to
life. The students of class 8th made Tie-and-Dye T-Shirts
and block printed them. Block Printing is a tribal form
of art, in which the students partook with excitement.
10th graders painted various sceneries on the
canvases to express their virtuosity. An exhibition was
held in the 4th floor art room to showcase the amazing
art pieces made by the budding artists of our school.
These activities give outlet to students’ creativity and
their artistic skills.

Growing up we are told many things,
One being, you can do anything,
But somewhere between child and adult,
Things change and we no longer sing.
Life takes on a whole different meaning,
From what we may have first believed.
We all get so caught up in what life expects,
And forget what we all could achieve.
Who told you, you weren't allowed,
To follow all of your dreams?
Was it someone who took away your dream?
Or was it you who was afraid of your schemes?
Whatever the reason, I now must ask,
Why not you, don't you think?
It’s time for you to take control of your life,
So you'll be happy to look back when you're grey.

NEVER LOSE HOPE
As it is said that never lose hope,
because to swing you through life it is the only rope.
It's not necessary that you'll win everytime,
but sometimes you'll have to face some situations that are lime.
Sometimes through the bitter and sometimes through the sour one's,
but there is no need of wasting your tears in tons.
Because everything in life is temporary,
and if things are going bad you must not worry.
Because they are not gonna last forever,
so come on be a bit clever.
Problems are a part of life but solving them is an art,
so be an artist and hit your goals with a dart.
Be happy and smile always,
and to make you sad let life find out no ways.
Nothing is good or bad our thinking makes it so,
and what's gonna happen in future you never know.
But we never lose, we either win or learn,
no matter today or tomorrow everyone has a turn!!!.....
