LET US REMEMBER THE APOSTOLIC ROOTS OF OUR CHRISTIAN FAITH PASSED DOWN THROUGH THE GENERATIONS
As the Church, we rejoice today in the fidelity of Simon Peter and Paul who boldly proclaimed the Risen Christ and laid down their lives for the Gospel message. Through their courage and commitment, the Gospel has been pro-claimed before all nations. Their lives remind us of our apostolic roots.
LITURGY OF THE WORD: Having been imprisoned by King Herod, Peter is miraculously freed to continue his mission. Paul writes to Timothy about God’s faithfulness. The Gospel recalls a key question asked by Jesus: Who do you say that I am? For his answer, Simon Peter is entrusted with the keys to the Kingdom of heaven.
***************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** WITH THE ARRIVAL OF SUMMER HERE ARE SOME THINGS TO TAKE NOTE OF:
• We will take a break from serving coffee after Mass during July and August.
• The bulletin will not be printed during the summer months (this is the last one). Any necessary announcements will be given at Mass and/or posted on the bulletin boards.
• During the month of July, the parish office will be open only in the morning, 9:00am to 12:10pm, from Tuesday to Friday. It will be closed on Friday, July 18th. Barbara Shenton will be working in the office during the month of July.
• Eucharistic Ministers and Readers: Please notify the coordinator of your Ministry if you are going to be away during the summer.
• Please remember that while people take holidays, the bills do not. Thank you for remembering to continue your contributions to the Sunday collection. If you are going to be away, you are welcome to submit a post-dated cheque or to top up your regular donation upon your return from vacation. Thank you.
Dear St. Patrick's Friends: To all of you who helped make Father Bill's party a success we are so grateful. The ladies who made the salads and so carefully served everything to be sure there was enough for all. The Knights, who ordered food and cut up onions and brought the cheese and condi-ments- many, many thanks. The food was delicious. To the folks who set up the hall bringing tables from downstairs and lifting and moving chairs especially Bruna Perusi - who like a star soccer player booted tables into an upright position with one swift movement. To Bruna again for shopping and carving watermelon and cleaning the hall when all was said and done. And to Cal Jones who envi-
sioned the MacDonald's sign and created it with such perfection! We literally do not know what we would do without you Cal. To Pat O’Neill who stepped up and took over the Bar and all that goes with that and made it fun and easy for everyone! To the planning committee who were so willing and thoughtful about how to make this event really work - a great team. To Edward and Georgina Camilleri and the boys who helped get everything into place and stayed on duty throughout. To Barb Shenton for her comedic story. To Domingo who helped with the service and the clean up, and to Tony Joe, who managed us all with ease and grace and kept the evening flowing. The proof was in the outcome. It was full of all we want to be as a parish. Sincere Regards, Shannon Turner.
BISHOP-ELECT INSTALLATION: Please note that the Mass to celebrate the Installation of Most Rever-end Gary Gordon as Bishop of Victoria will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 7pm at St. Andrew’s Cathedral, 740 View Street in Victoria.
