May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
Blessings to you!
The Hahn exit plan is now underway! Yes, my friends, our schedule for the next month requires a spreadsheet and color-coding to ensure that all of us relocate to the Pacific Northwest in a timely fashion. It is not just Dave and the kids who will be joining me soon, but provisions need to be made for Koko (the dog), Miss Twister (the gecko) and Peanut (the hamster). Never a dull moment!
As I have packed dishtowels and measuring cups, wine glasses and picture frames…I am deeply aware that God has been doing some packing right along side of me. By the mysterious work of Holy Spirit, God has packed gifts that do not require space and are not too heavy to carry.
God has packed deep JOY. My heart seems to beat a little faster these days as I anticipate worshipping with you, praying with you, communing with you, and serving with you. I am honored to be called as your pastor and trust God’s good and gracious plans for us in the future.

Community Lunch on Capitol Hill
Confirmation/Affirmation of Baptism
The community Lunch Program on Capitol Hill is a community outreach
program, which provides hot meals, snacks and sandwiches to the homeless
population living in the downtown Seattle area. During the month of August,
we expect to provide food and fellowship for over 1,000 of Seattle’s homeless.
We need 10 people each day, and are not required to bring food. We will do
four dates-Tuesdays, August 18th & 25th and Fridays, August 21st & 28th
from 9:00-2:00pm. Please sign up at the welcome counter.
Life Stage Youth, continued
Eleven young people affirmed their
Baptism in the Rite of Confirmation
on May 17th. We thank God’s steadfast
love for and the faith affirmed in:
Anna Browne, Tyler Bundy, Elissa
Camarata, Lars Clausen, Andrew
Combs, Sidney (Steve) Edwards,
Briana Goedhard, Nicholas
Goulter, Kayla Gunderson, Samuel
Hobart and Grace Miner.
We pray: Lord God of our ancestors,
we thank you for what you have done
and will continue to do with our daugh-
ters and sons who have affirmed their baptisms. Walk with them in life, and keep the evil one from obstructing
their path. You see all; you know where the water is deep. Keep them from danger. Order their steps and guide their
feet while they run the race of faith. May the good work that you have begun in them be brought to completion at
the day of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Promise me you will not spend so much time treading water and trying to keep your head
above the waves that you forget, truly forget, how much you have always loved to swim.
-Tyler Knott Gregson
From creation and the flood to turning water to wine, the
woman at the well, and calming the storm, images of water
pervade the Bible. Start your summer with a splash by
dipping into the simple steps of FAITH5 (Faith Acts In
The Home) to be reminded each day in June of God’s
thirst quenching power. Share this routine with your family
or just keep it between you and God. Begin with “highs
and lows” the best and worst moments of your day, read
the water themed verses of scripture found on this sheet,
pray and end by blessing each other, perhaps tracing a
cross on the forehead and saying something like “You are
washed clean and made new with God’s great love for
you.”

God has packed abiding PEACE. Through this entire moving process we have been collected and content. I have felt, with each passing day, a growing anticipation for the move and a profound peace in the midst of many heart-felt good-byes, big decisions, and mounting details. It is by the grace and love of God we are moving to Renton and joining the SMLC community. We are deeply grateful!
God has packed contagious HOPE. Let’s face it, my imagina-tion is bursting with possibility as I anticipate learning from and working with the excellent staff and council of SMLC. I am praying for the community and long to soon listen to your stories and how God is at work in your lives!
Needless to say, our transition feels ridiculously FULL and HOLY! More to come in the future, but for now, I need to get back to packing!
In God’s Expansive and Contagious Love,
Pastor Kacey Hahn

Side by Side is a ministry that connects trained volunteers with those who are looking to share and find sup-port during difficult times. A side by side volunteer is carefully matched with someone who needs and wants
a listening ear.
If you are interested in becoming a Side by Side volunteer, or if you would like to meet with a Side By Side Volunteer, please contact the Side By Side Coordinator, Joan Stewart, [email protected] or 425-226-2420.
