JULY- DECEMBER 2015 NEWSLETTER
McCord staff visited Edith Benson
Children’s Home on 17 July 2015, to spend 67 minutes of love to commemorate Nelson Mandela day.
Each staff member contributed money to buy items which were listed on the Children’s Home wish list. It was a way of giving back to the community.
Among the donated items was canned food, cereals, soups, soaps and toys.
Apart from that, staff members were armed with rubber gloves and rakes to clean windows and garden.
It was not about donating goods only but getting together and physically doing something for the kids to spend our 67 minutes in doing community outreach.
Pia Kemble, a social worker at the Home, was touched by the generosity of the hospital staff
and was amazed at the support.

Appreciation letters from patients
Dear Mrs. Zodwa Mbatha
Re: Appreciation for good service
I am writing to record note of appreciation for the
good service that I received while I was under your
care in Ward A4.
I was admitted on Monday 12 October 2015 for my
laser operation. As this was my first time in hospital
I was very nervous, but your nursing staff was so
friendly and reassuring that I sometimes forget the
reason I was admitted. I appreciate the gentleness
your nurses exhibited when dealing with me.
Both the doctors and nurses gave me such good
service. Dr Du Bruyn & Dr Krizinger were very
friendly and made me more comfortable and
explained things to me before I could put off to
sleep.
Just a few names to mention with regards to nursing
staff, Sr Caroline Pillay, Sr R Edwards, EN Nene,
TF Dlamini (night staff) ENA A Mpungose (night
staff)
At times I felt that I was in a hotel rather than a
hospital. The bathrooms and ward was clean and
tidy at all times
Well done and keep up the good work.
Yours Sincerely
Mr Rakesh Karamchund
