More Options for Handling Containers
In the next version of Magaya software, version 9.1, a new feature adds more flexibility to working with containers.
Now when adding a container to a shipment or Cargo Release, you can add items from different locations using a Pick Task for a WMS Mobile user to load items into the container. This option en-ables the system to handle containers differently than other pack-age types such as boxes or bags when cargo is being repacked by removing the requirement that all items be in one location.
The items can be selected not only from different locations, but
also from different Warehouse Receipts, and they can be repacked into pallets.
When a Pick Task is created, a new option will be available that allows for partial picking and palletizing. With this option, users can pick partial quantities instead of the total amount of items in a location. Also, one Pick Task can be sent to one WMS Mobile user and another Pick Task can be sent to another user to allow more than one user to work on a shipment at a time and pick items faster. If a shipment has more than one container, then a Pick Task can be created to pick items for just one of the contain-ers. No new training is needed for WMS Mobile users because the Pick and Load tasks look the same as before.
Another benefit of this new feature is that users will be able to create and send shipping instructions to INTTRA before the items are picked. The location of the items remains the same until after the items are picked; it does not change when the container is added to the transaction.
This feature is available for the Magaya Supply Chain Solution and Magaya WMS with Magaya WMS Mobile.

Introduction:
Do you have many customers who use your shipping services from your website and want to register and manage their passwords online? Now you can let your customers create accounts on your website with Magaya’s Custom LiveTrack 2.0. They enter their name, address, phone number and email 24/7, saving you time. It’s done in two main steps: First, you configure it, and second, they use it.
How to Configure it:
1. To use this feature, ensure you have Custom LiveTrack enabled for your Magaya account. (To check, click the “Help” menu in the top toolbar of your Magaya system, and select “About Magaya Explorer.” Click the “Services” button and look for “Magaya Custom LiveTrack.”) If it’s not active, contact your Magaya Logistics Advisor to activate it.
2. Then configure the “Customer Setup” option in the Maintenance folder to allow users to register themselves online and check the other options you want. These are system-
wide settings. (Extra Info: To override system-wide permissions per individual customer, right-click on the customer name, and select “Allow Tracking.”)
3. Also create a System Alert for yourself (or an employee in your company) to notify you when a customer registers online: Go to Maintenance > Configuration > System Alerts

Extra Info: Additional options in the Configuration > Customer Setup screen include setting your system to automatically generate account numbers for new and existing customers, saving a lot of time and work. For details on these options, please see the Magaya Software Customization Manual, Chapter 3.
How your Customers Use It:
When your customers click the tracking link on your website, a web page opens with a login screen. Depending on the browser they’re using, the login page will either open directly or give them a link to click on the top of the page that says: “Click here to enter Magaya LiveTrack 2.0.”
Here is a screenshot of the LiveTrack 2.0 login screen:
Your customers register the first time and create their account. When they visit the site after that, they just log in with their user name and password.
The tracking page opens to their dashboard where they can see and use all the interactive tracking features you have given them permissions to access.
If they want to change their password, they can do it from the Settings menu in the Dashboard.
Tip: We recommend using the latest browser from Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.
Now you and your customer are set to begin enjoying the benefits of Custom LiveTrack 2.0.

Solutions are tailor made from a variety of options by their experts in freight forwarding, engineering services, distribution and shipping.

Erick Zazueta, Sales Manager of Worldwide Shipping Transportation
CASE STUDY:
Freight ForwarderWorldwide Shipping Transportation
IntroductionWhen you live and work in a country that provides a high volume of
manufacturing to the rest of the world, it makes good business sense
to offer a comprehensive list of services to support the manufacturers
and their import and export needs. Raul Solis, the owner and founder
of Worldwide Shipping Transportation, S.A. de C.V., created Grupo
Soher in Puebla, Mexico, a group of three companies that complement
each other to serve the needs of this market from end to end.
The group includes Worldwide Shipping Transportation (Worldwide
Shipping), the freight forwarding arm. Another part of the group,
Campillo Trading, helps companies that want to import into Mexico
by importing and distributing goods on their behalf until a company
receives its own import license. Without an import license, a company
can only import limited quantities. The third arm of Grupo Soher is
Fisch & Fisch, which dismantles, packs, transports, and reassembles
machines and production line equipment for large manufacturing
plants and other industrial facilities.
Importing into Mexico and Exporting to the WorldWorldwide Shipping Transportation began operating in 2002,
making it the first part of Grupo Soher. Based in Puebla, Mexico,
gives them access to Mexico City, which is only about an hour
away, but keeps them farther from the daily traffic jams and
congestion in the city, according to Erick Zazueta, sales manager
for Worldwide Shipping. The Puebla office works together with a
smaller satellite branch in Mexico City near the airport that handles
air freight shipments.
Worldwide Shipping imports and exports a variety of goods, including
agricultural products for food manufacturing and automotive parts
for the many manufacturing plants in Mexico. While farming is still
mainly done on a small scale, the food processing industry is one of
the fastest growing industries in Mexico. Industrial farming methods
require certain types of equipment for planting, harvesting and
processing crops grown in Mexico such as corn, onions, tropical fruits,
chili peppers, and more.
The automotive manufacturing industry in Mexico produces 3 million
vehicles per year and exports about 80% of the vehicles. Mexico is the
fourth largest auto exporter in the world, after Japan, Germany and
South Korea. Many international companies have plants throughout
Mexico, including Volkswagen’s plant in Puebla, where Audi is building
a new plant. Ford has two plants in Mexico. The German company
ThyssenKrupp builds coil springs and stabilizer bars in its Mexican
plant. The Silverado pickup truck from General Motors is built in
Mexico’s Guanajuato state, and auto parts manufacturer Dephi has
many plants in Mexico.
Transporting all these parts is a competitive business. Worldwide
Shipping competes by offering end-to-end services for customers.
Many of the goods that Worldwide Shipping manages are imported
from Asia and arrive at Mexico’s busiest ports, the port of Lazaro
Cardenas in Michoacán and the seaport in Manzanillo on the Pacific
Ocean. Other cargo arrives from Europe by air and ocean. Worldwide
Shipping works with customs brokers in the ports who clear and help
transport the goods. They also work with warehouse providers for
storage when needed.
The majority of cargo that Worldwide Shipping handles is exported out
to Europe, Central and South America. Of the total cargo they handle,
70% is imports into Mexico and 30% of their business is exporting.

Reports tell them the total operations performed in a month with
details such as how many air or ocean imports and exports. They also
compare profits month by month and analyze which destinations are
the most profitable and how they can improve areas that are not as
profitable. To improve business to a certain destination, they evaluate
the rates they are getting from carriers for those destinations and the
terms offered by all the service providers they partner with. “We talk
to our local partners to determine how we can do better,” Mr. Zazueta
said.
Staying Ahead in a Competitive EnvironmentOne of the ways Worldwide Shipping stays competitive is to get the
best rates from carriers and other service providers. “We look at transit
times, frequency of status updates of the shipments, and conditions
at the destination such as free demurrage. We want to pass on the
savings to our customers. Also, keeping our customers informed is very
important.”
“Our goal is to provide one-stop shopping for our customers,” he said.
“That is why our group offers all the services – the transport and freight
forwarding from Worldwide Shipping, engineering services by Fisch
& Fisch, and handling of import goods by Campillo Trading. We’re
not only focused on shipping. We handle and oversee it all instead of
subcontracting the work out, giving us better quality.”
“We have very good relationships with our service providers, and
that results in a variety of options to offer our customers. This is part
of our personalized, tailor-made service for each customer and each
shipment. If there is a storm in a destination, for example, we advise
the customer about options by first notifying them of the situation, but
we don’t stop there. We try to find solutions such as sending cargo by
another mode, asking the carrier to unload the containers at an earlier
port and arrange other transport to the final destination.”
“Diversification of Grupo Soher services has been one of the strategies
implemented for sustained growth and to provide a one-stop shop
for our customers,” Mr. Zazueta said. “Today we provide air cargo
maneuvers by helicopter for the whole industry using specialized
rotorcrafts such as the S-61 (as shown in the accompanying
photographs). We are the only company in Mexico that provides this
type of equipment through the exclusive representation for the USA
Company Croman Corporation.”
A Professional ImageWorldwide Shipping learned about Magaya software in 2011 when
they were looking for a software solution that could produce
professional looking documents. When Mr. Zazueta saw some
Quotations and other trade documents that a partner in Venezuela
was using, he asked how they were produced. That company referred
him to Magaya, who sent one of their Logistics Advisors Jesus Corona,
from their Texas office to the Worldwide Shipping office in Puebla to
learn about their needs and to show them the software.
Some of the documents they needed from the software include
quotations with rates and incoterms, invoices, and the house bill of
lading. “When we saw the software and how easy it is to use, we were
really satisfied with how it could meet the needs of our business,”
Mr. Zazueta said.
Like many companies, they were typing all the shipment details in to
an email message and sending that to their customers, Mr. Zazueta
explained. “The Magaya documents make a more professional
appearance. Since we are a small-to-medium-sized business,
professional looking documents help us compete with larger
companies,” he said.
In addition to the documents, Mr. Zazueta and others at the company
use the reporting features in the software. “The accounting and
administrative departments can create reports in minutes to see how
our business is going each month and over the year,” he said.
