AWARDBACKGROUND

Judi Collinsworth spent a great deal of time working to improve and expand the programs available to Holstein Youth. Judi was the Executive Director of Member and Industry Relations. She was responsible for Telemarketing, Member Related Programs, State Association Communications, Member Services, and Association External Affairs. She was a driving force behind financial needs of supporting youth programs at Holstein. Judi passed away in December of 1993.

• Awardtobea$250cashprize,presentedatallNationalJuniorHolsteinshows.WinnersfromeachNationalJuniorHolsteinshowwillbeeligibletoapplyfortheOverallCollinsworthScholarship($500)awardedatthecompletionoftheshowseason.

• RecipientsmustbeaNationalJuniormemberandwillbeeligibleforthisawardonlyonce.

• Interestedyouthwillberequiredtofilloutabriefapplicationtoindicatetheirinterestinbeingconsideredforthisaward.Applicationsareavailableonlineatwww.holsteinusa.com/juniors.

• YouthmustexhibittheirownHolsteinsintheJuniorHolsteinShow.(Ifseparatered&whiteshowisoffered,youthmustexhibitatleastoneanimalintheblack&whiteshow.)

• Juniorexhibitorsareencouragedtobeinattendanceforthemajorityoftheexhibition.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

• SPORTSMANSHIP - 30%Applicantsmustrepresentthehigheststandardsingoodsportsmanship,displaycourtesyandcongenialitytootherexhibitors,cooperationwithshowmanagementandwillingnesstoshareskillswithothers.

• HERDSMANSHIP-30%Applicantsmustdemonstratethehighestidealsofanimalcareandwelfare,efficiencyandastrongworkethicintheirexhibitandcattleandoutwardlydisplayworkingknowledgeofthisportionofthedairyindustry.

• LEVELOFPARTICIPATIONINHOLSTEINACTIVITIES-30%ApplicantsmustillustratetheirlevelofparticipationinHOLSTEINactivitiesonalocal,county,areadistrict,stateandnationallevel.

• LEVELOFPARTICIPATIONIN4-H,FFAorOTHERYOUTHDAIRYORGANIZATIONS-10%Applicantsmustillustratetheirlevelofparticipationin4-H,FFAorotheryouthdairyorganizations.
