Dear District 5 Neighbors and Friends:Earlier this week our community experienced another twoshootings, one of which injured a woman at an apartment complexin the 400 block of N. Los Robles Ave. The assailant is unknown, asis the motive at this time. The second shooting was a report ofshots fired on N. Idaho St. No victims or witnesses but, officers didfind a parked car with several bullet holes. Our police departmentand other city staff continue to address the ongoing issues thereis significant increased enforcement with additional officers on thestreets and in our neighborhoods. City staff is also ensuring ourparks and community centers remain safe. Our office continues to communicate with neighbors everyday toanswer questions and respond to concerns. We are working withcity staff to implement short and longterm strategies to addressthe increased community violence. Our focus is and has alwaysbeen to ensure a healthy quality of life in our District we willcontinue to work for the best Pasadena. It is to this end, that I hope you will join us on Saturday,February 28th for a community beautification effort atMadison Elementary School (flyer below). The Los Robles side ofthe campus (between the school fence and sidewalk) has struggledwith landscaping and cleanliness. Frankly, many folks who walkthrow their trash and litter into the ivy with little concern or respectfor the students and neighborhood. We must to change this! OnSaturday we will clean the area, remove the dead/dying ivy andinstall a new drought resistant landscape beautifying the area andmaking it easier to maintain. Joining in the effort are volunteersfrom the Pasadena Community Job Center we hope you will joinus, as well!

Join us for a morning of community building and beautifying! We will becleaning and relandscaping the Los Robles Ave. parkway and side area ofMadison Elementary School. Hot dog lunch will be provided by officers fromthe Pasadena Police Department. Wear closed toe shoes, bring your glovesand any gardening tools you may have. It's all hands on deck!
