PART I
GENERAL POSITION REQUIREMENTSMust be a current Undergrad at Purdue University Northwest
Minimum student enrollment status of 6 credit hours
Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher
Working knowledge of computing systems
Exhibit best practices in the workplace

EXPECTATIONS
• Arrive to work on time Must be at your stations by start time
• Perform Assigned Tasks
• Complete work shift Cannot decide to leave shift early or come
in late
EXPECTATIONSIn Person Etiquette Introduces his/herself upon entering an office. Greet customer within seconds when approached for assistance.Phone Etiquette Each department will provide you with the script for answering phone
calls. Below is an example of a script:[“Thank you for calling Purdue University Northwest (department name here), this is (your name) how can I assist you?”]

EXPECTATIONS
Breaks/Lunch You will be allowed either a lunch or break according to the
number of hours worked
If a student works 8 hour shift they must: Take two 15 minute breaks and 30 minute to 1 hour unpaid
lunch
If a student works 4 hours: They are allowed one 15 minute break.

Must be checked at the beginning, during and at the end of your shift.

CALL OFFS
When running late or calling off:
Notify your supervisor as soon as possible.
Please make sure to obtain your department’s proper phone numbers for calling in late or off.
PAY DAY
WORK SCHEDULE
• You will be given a work schedule according to the department you work in.
• It is your responsibility to keep track of the time you are expected at work.
• Avoid making appointments which conflict with your work schedule.
TIMEKEEPING

DRESS CODEUniforms must be worn at all times during working hours and must be kept clean and may not be in any way altered.
Lanyards must be worn front facing at all times during working hours.
Capris/jeans/pants without holes and tears are allowed.
Shorts mid-thigh length or longer are allowed.
Clothing bearing offensive or inappropriate statements or pictures are not allowed.
Hoodies are allowed, however you may not wear the hood up.
No hats or large headpieces of any sort are allowed. (religious accommodations are acceptable)
No thin sole beach flip flops are allowed and footwear is required at all times.
EQUIPMENT USAGECell phones may be kept in your possession, but MUST be silenced or on vibrate
Absolutely NO talking on a cell phone during the hours you are working
Texting should be limited to emergency situations during working hours
Portable units for playing any type of recording or live transmission (iPods, MP3 Players, etc.) are not to be worn or used
Use of any computer for personal reasons during work time is prohibited.
If the cell phone policy is abused, you will lose the privilege of keeping it with you.
HOMEWORK RULES
Homework tasks or utilizing a personal laptop/tablet during your scheduled shift is NOT allowed. Departments are NOT required to allow you to study while at work.
All homework should be done prior to shift, on breaks or at the end of your shift.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION PROCESS
Formal performance reviews will be conducted at the end of each spring and fall semester.
Merit increases will be determined based on the rating obtained from the student performance evaluation. Minimum rating of 16 is expected to maintain position.
