DENSO’sRT1air-conditioningunitisdesignedforinstallationontherooftopoffixedroofcaravansandmotorhomes.Beforeusingtheunit,pleasetaketimetoreadthismanualindetail,andfollowtheinstructionsonhowtooperatethisproduct.Keepthismanualinyourcaravan,andshouldyoueverdecidetosellyourcaravan,pleasemakesuretopassthismanualontothenextowner.

The ability of the air-conditioner to maintain a desired temperature dependsupon theheatenteringorleavingyourvehicle.Thefollowingsimpleguidelinesshouldbefollowedtoachievethebestcomfort,lowestenergyuseandquietestoperatingnoise.
a. Parkyourvehicleinashadedarea.
b. Keepallwindows,doors,curtainandblindsclosedwhileoperating.
c. Selecthigherfanspeedsforhighercoolingperformance.
d. Switchyourair-conditionertocoolingearlyintheday,beforetheinterior ofthevehiclehasbecometoohot.
e. Iftheinteriorofthevehicleisalreadyhotterthantheoutsideair,briefly opendoorsandwindowstoexhaustthehotairbeforestartingthe air-conditionercooling.
f. Avoidusingstovesandovensthataddheattothevehicle’sinterior whiletheair-conditioneriscooling.
3.GENERAL INFORMATION
3.1
Inhumidconditions,theoperationofanair-conditionercancausetheformationofcondensateoncoldsurfacesinsideyourvehicle.Caremustbetakentopreventthiscondensatefromdamagingpersonalitems,orcausingabuildupofmould.Items thatmaybedamagedby the condensatemust be kept clear of theairdistributionunit.Inrarecircumstances,condensatecanformonthisunitduringuse.Shouldtherebeformationofcondensate,allowittodrythoroughlyafteruse.

NOTE: Condensation can be reduced by keeping all doors and windows closed during air-conditioner operation, preventing humid air from entering the vehicle. The likelihood of condensation on the air distribution unit can be reduced by ensuring that the caravan is properly sealed, preventing entry of moisture laden air.
WARNING
All electrical work and permanent wiring must be carried out by an appropriatelyqualifiedpersoninaccordancewithnationalwiringregulationsandallotherapplicablelocalcodesandregulatoryauthorityrequirements.
Repair to electrical components by non-certified technicians may result in death,personalinjuryand/ordamagetotheunit.Allelectricalcomponentsreplacedmustbegenuinereplacementparts,purchasedfromanauthorisedreseller.

Childrenmust be supervised at all times to ensure that they do not playwith thisappliance.
Prior tooperation, familiariseyourselfwith the locationof thesafety circuit breakerand isolationswitch for theair-conditioneronyour caravan. In theeventof a faultordamage,switchoff thepowersupply,andcontactanapprovedserviceagentforassistance.
a. Onlyalicencedelectricianmayreplacetheunitfuse.Thefuseis locatedintheelectricalcontrolhousinginsidetherooftopunit.Fuse ratingis250V/500VAC,10A,T-Delay,5x20mmsuppliedbyDENSO.
b. Thesafetycircuitbreakermustbeswitchedto‘off’positionto disconnectitfromthepowersupplybeforeanydisassemblyorrepairs.
c. Theair-conditionerusestherefrigerantR410aunderhighpressure.It isbothdangerousandillegaltotamperwiththesealedrefrigerant systemwithoutappropriatelicensing.Intentionalreleaseofrefrigerant isillegalinAustraliaandNewZealand.
Theair intake,exhaustandcondensatedrainonthesidesof theexternalunitmust be kept clear of anymaterial thatmay block airflow or water drainage.Failuretokeeptheseareasclearcouldcausepoorperformance,waterleakageintoyourvehicleandpermanentdamagetotheair-conditioner.
Theair-conditionermustneverbeoperatedwhilethevehicleismoving.Beforeoperatingtheair-conditioner,ensurethatthevehicleisparkedwiththeunittiltednomorethan5˚fromthehorizontal.
Thisunitisdesignedtobeoperatedon230-240V50Hzpowerfromtheelectricitygridorasinewaveinverterequippedgenerator.Therecommendedgeneratorcapacityforthisunit is2.4kVAContinousPower.Whenchoosingagenerator,pleasebearinmindthatotherdevicesandappliancesmayaddtothedemandonthegenerator.Inthiscase,thegeneratorcapacityshouldbeselectedaccordingly.

E/ Timer (i) On Timer Pressingthisbuttonwhiletheunitisoffwillsettheontimer.Each buttonpressadds1hourtothewaittimeuntiltheunitstarts (1-12hours).Aftercyclingthrough12hours,thenextbuttonpresswill cancelthe‘on’timer.
(ii)Off Timer Pressingthisbuttonwhiletheunitisonwillsettheofftimer.Each buttonpressadds1hourtothewaittimeuntiltheunitstops (1-12hours).Aftercyclingthrough12hours,thenextbuttonpresswill cancelthe‘off’timer.
F/ Mode Cyclesthroughthe3modesofairconditioneroperation.
(i) Fan Mode Usedforventilationonly.Fanspeedcanbechangedbetweenlow, mediumandhighbypressingD-FanSpeed.
(ii) Cooling Mode Thecompressorandexternalfanwilloperateautomaticallytocool thecabintoachievethedesiredtemperature.Fanspeedcanbe adjustedbetweenlow,mediumandhighbypressingD-FanSpeed.
(iii)Heating Mode Thecompressorandexternalfanwillautomaticallyoperate toheatthecabintoachievethedesiredtemperature.Theinteriorfan speedcanbeadjustedbetweenlow,mediumandhighbypressing pressingD-FanSpeedtoachieveanoptimumheatingperformance.
G/ Quick Cool Theair-conditionerwillchangetomaximumcoolingmodeand maximumfanspeedforaperiodof15minutesduringwhichtheQuick CoolIndicatorKwillilluminate.After15minutes(orifthequickcool buttonGispressedagain)theair-conditionerwillresumeoperation withtheprevioussettings.

5. OPERATION
CAUTION
Alwaysensurethatthecaravan’spowersupplycordisfullyuncoiledbeforeoperatingtheunittopreventoverheating.
Switch theair-conditioneronbypressing thePowerButton (A)on the remotecontrolwhileaimingthecontrol in thedirectionof theInfraredRemoteControlReceiver(J)ontheceilingmountedairdistributionunit.Theair-conditionerwillbeepandthePowerIndicator(I)willilluminatetoacknowledgethesignal.
Setthedesiredoperatingmode(Fan,CoolingorHeating),FanSpeed(low,MediumorHigh)andthedesiredtemperature(16-30˚C).Theinteriorfan,exteriorfanandcompressorwilloperateautomaticallydependinguponthesettingschosen.Fanspeedshouldbeselectedmanuallytothelowestlevelthatachievesthedesiredroomtemperature.

ThePowerindicator(I)willilluminatebrieflywhenthepowersupplyisconnectedandswitchedon.
Once the desired room temperature is reached, the air-conditioner will cycle thecompressorandexteriorfantomaintainthetemperaturelevel.
Iftheair-conditionercannotreachacomfortabletemperatureincoolingmode,increasethefanspeedtoincreaseperformance.
Thedesiredtemperaturecanbeadjustedifyouaretoohotorcold.
SwitchtheunitoffbypressingthePowerbutton(A)ontheremotecontrol.ThePowerIndicator(I)willextinguish.
Alternatively,theunitcanbesettoswitchoffautomaticallyusingtheOffTimer.Whiletheunitisswitchedon,presstheTimerbutton(E)ontheremotecontrolrepeatedlyuntilthedisplayshowsthedesirednumberofhoursuntiltheairconditionerwillswitchoff.
NOTE: Whenever the remote control is used, it must be aimed in the direction of the Infrared Remote Receiver (J) on the Air Distribution Unit from a distance of less than 8m. The air distribution unit will beep once and the Power Indicator (I) will flash once to acknowledge the command.
Ensurethatthecaravanisconnectedtoaclean230-240Vpowersupply.Ifconnectedtoagenerator,itmustbeofthesine-wavetype,andadequatelyrated.

Thecompressorandexteriorfanspeedaremicroprocessorcontrolledtoautomaticallyensurealonglifeforyourair-conditionerwhilemaintainingthebestpossiblecomfort.Dependingupontheconditionsandair-conditionersettings,youmaynoticesomeofthefollowing:
a. Automatic Compressor Start Protection: Thecompressorstartmaybe delayedforupto3minutesafterselectingcoolingorheatingmode.
b. Exterior Fan Speed:Theexteriorfanmayswitchbetweenhighandlow speedstominimizetheoperatingnoiseoftheairconditionerforyouandyour neighbours.
c. Cooling Operating Range: Thecompressormaynotoperateincooling modeiftheoutsidetemperatureisgreaterthan45°Cinordertoprotectthe refrigerantsystem.
d. Heating Operating Range: Theairconditionerisdesignedtooperatein heatingmodewhentheoutsidetemperatureisbetween0-25°C.Ifthe temperatureisoutsidethisrangethecompressormaynotoperateinorderto protecttherefrigerantsystem.
e. Preheat: Theinteriorfanwillnotswitchoninheatingmodeuntiltheair- conditionerhaswarmedupsufficientlytodelivercomfortablywarmair.At verylowtemperaturesthiscouldtakeupto10minutesfromthestartofthe compressorandexteriorfan.
f. De-icing:Theair-conditioneroperatesasaheatpumpwheninheatingmode. Heatisdrawnfromtheoutsideairtowarmthevehicle.Astheoutsideair temperaturedrops,lessheatisavailabletotheair-conditioneranda decreaseintheheatingperformancemaybenoticed.Whentheoutside temperatureisverylow(below8°C)icemayformonthecondenserinthe air-conditioner.Themicroprocessorcontrolhasafullyautomaticprotection functionthatwillremovetheicewhenrequired.Dependinguponthe conditions,youmaynoticethecompressor,interiorandexteriorfansswitching
offasoftenasevery15minutestoprotectyourair-conditionerandprovide maximumcomfort.

6. MAINTENANCE
WARNING
Always ensure that the air-conditioner is isolated from themains power supply byswitchingoff theACswitchandsafetycircuitbreaker,beforeperformingandduringanymaintenance.
6.1INLETAIRFILTER
Twodustfiltersarefittedtothereturnairinletoftheair-conditioner.Thesefiltersareessential topreventabuildupofdustblocking theevaporator.The filters (PartNo.TA145520-2230)mustbecleanedatleasttwiceperyearbywashinginwarmwaterwithamildhouseholddetergent.Allowthefilterstodry,beforere-installing.Replacementfiltersareavailableforpurchaseassparepartsshouldtheoriginalbedamaged.
Flipdownthetwotabsonthesidesofthefilter,asshownintheimage.
Flipdownthecentretab,anduseittopulltheairfilterapproximately20-30mmsoutoftheunit.
Once the outer tabs are exposed,use them togentlypull the filteroutoftheunit.
After cleaning the filters carefullyinsertthembackintotheslotswhichareprovided.Once the filter is fullyinplace,pressdown the three tabstolockitin.
Repeat steps a, b and c above forthesecondfilterontheothersideoftheunit.

CAUTION
Failuretocleanthefilterwillresultindecreasedair-conditionerperformance,increasednoiseandpossibleoverheatinganddamagetotheair-conditioner.Theair-conditionershouldneverbeoperatedwithoutthefiltersinstalled.

6.3REMOTECONTROLBATTERIES
The infrared remote control is powered by 2 x AAA (LR03, 24A, MN2400) 1.5Vbatteries.Depletedbatteries in the remotecontrolwill causepoor remoteoperatingrange.Thebatteriesshouldbereplacedasrequiredwithnewbatteriesof thesametypebyremovingthecoverfromtherearoftheremotecontrol.Takecaretoinsertthenewbatterieswiththecorrectpolarityasindicatedinthebatterycompartment.
CAUTION
Dead batteriesmay leak and damage the remote if left for long periods. Batteriesshouldberemovedfromtheremoteifdeadoriftheair-conditionerisnottobeusedforalongperiod.Damagetotheremotecontrolcausedbyleakingbatteriesisnotincludedinthetermsofthemanufacturer’sdefectwarranty.
6.4GENERALCONDITION
Regularly inspect theconditionof theunit forsignsofdamage,wearormalfunction.If used correctly, this air-conditioner should give you years of comfortable function.However,ifyouencounteranyproblemsatanytime,pleaseswitchpowerofftheunitbyswitchingofftheACswitchandthesafetycircuitbreakeronyourcaravanbeforegettingintouchwithyournearestServiceAgentforassistance.

ToensurethatYouremainentitledtoclaimunderthisWarranty,Youmust:(a)provideUswithsatisfactoryproofofpurchaseoftheProduct,whichclearlyindicatesthenameandaddressoftheSupplier,thedateandplaceofpurchase,andidentifiestheProduct(WerecommendthatYouprovideUswithalegibleandunmodifiedreceiptorsalesinvoicefortheProduct);(b)install,use,service,maintainandrepairtheProductinaccordancewithOurinstructionsandrecommendations;and(c)ensurethatnoneoftheExclusionsinclause7apply.
6.PROCEDURETOCLAIMUNDERTHISWARRANTYTomakeaclaimunderthisWarranty,Youmusttakethefollowingsteps:STEP1ContactUs,duringtheWarrantyPeriod,usingthecontactdetailsinclause3,andprovideUswithYourname,address,
telephonenumber,detailsoftheProduct,detailsoftheSupplierandanoutlineofYourclaiminrelationtotheProduct.WewilldirectYoutotaketheproducttoanAuthorisedDensoServiceRepairer,theSupplierorus.

YoumustthentaketheProducttoanAuthorisedDensoServiceRepairer,theSupplierorusinaccordancewithourdirections.Youmustprovidesatisfactoryproofofpurchase.
STEP3FollowinginspectionoftheProduct,YouwillbeinformedwhetherYourclaimhasbeenacceptedand,ifso,whethertheProductwillberepairedorreplacedatourexpense,orwhetherYouwillbepaidanamountequivalenttothecostofrepairingorreplacingtheProduct.NeithertheSupplieroranyAuthorisedDENSOServiceRepairerareauthorisedtoacceptYourclaimonourbehalf,unlessexpresslyauthorisedbyUstodoso..PleasenotethatthisWarrantydoesnotcoveranyexpensesYoumayincurinmakingaclaimunderthisWarranty,includinganycostofhavinganAuthorisedDENSOServiceRepairertraveltothepremisesatwhichtheProductislocated,thecostofremovingtheProductfromitsplaceofinstallationorreinstallingtheProduct,andthecostoftransportingtheProductforthepurposesofrepairorreplacement.
7.EXCLUSIONSThisWarrantydoesnotapplyiftheProductisoutsideAustraliaoriftheclaimiswhollyorpartlyattributabletoany:
(a)failuretoproperlyinstall,use,service,maintainandrepairtheProduct,inaccordancewithanyinstructionsor recommendationsfromUs;
(b)misuseoftheProductincludinguseoftheProductforpurposesotherthanitsintendedpurpose,useoftheProductcontrarytoOurinstructionsandrecommendations,anduseoftheProductafteritbecomesapparentthatitrequiresservice,maintenanceorrepair;
(c)accidentaldamageincludingfire,theftandexplosion;(d)actsofGodanddamageorcorrosiontotheProductcausedbyenvironmentalconditionsincludingexcessive
moisture,acidrain,airbornefallout,stones,salt,sand,hail,wind,storms,lightning,floods,infestationbyrodentsorothervermin;
(e)modificationoftheProductinamannernotauthorisedbyUs;(f)incorporationofpartsotherthanDENSOpartsorotherpartsauthorisedbyUs;(g)normalwearanddeterioration,havingregardtotheoperatingenvironmentoftheProduct,includingdiscoloration;(h)routineserviceormaintenancecosts;(i)componentswarrantedbyothermanufacturers;(j)failuretorespondinatimelymannertoanymalfunctionoftheProduct;(k)non-DENSOproduct,oranyinstallation,service,maintenanceorrepairbyapersonotherthananAuthorisedDENSO
ServiceRepairerorotherpersonapprovedbyUs;or(l)commercialuseoftheProduct.
8.LIMITATIONOFLIABILITYUNDERTHISWARRANTYAsindicatedinclause4,YourrightsunderthisWarrantyarelimitedtorepairorreplacementoftheProduct,orbeingpaidthecostofrepairingorreplacingtheProduct.WewillnotbeliableunderthisWarrantyforanyconsequentiallossincluding,withoutlimitation,theinjuryordeathofanyperson,damagetoanyotherproperty,orlossofanyincome,profitorbusiness.
9.EXCLUSIONANDLIMITATIONOFANYOTHERLIABILITIES
ExceptasprovidedunderthisWarrantyandbylaw,WegiveYounowarranty,guaranteeorsimilarrightinrelationtotheProduct.Tothefullextentpermittedbylaw,Weexcludeanywarranty,guaranteeorsimilarrightprovidedorimpliedbylaw.
Ifanywarranty,guaranteeorsimilarrightprovidedorimpliedbylawappliestotheProduct,tothefullextentpermittedbylawWelimitOurliabilitytoYoutotherepairorreplacementoftheProduct,orthecostofhavingtheProductrepairedorreplaced.
Exceptasprovidedbylaw(includingtheAustralianConsumerLaw,ifapplicable),WewillnotbeliabletoYou,whetherincontract,tortorotherwise,foranylossordamagesufferedasaresultofYouacquiringtheProduct.
10.DEFINITIONS“AuthorisedDENSOServiceRepairer”meansapersonorcompanyauthorisedbyUstoprovideserviceforsuchProducts.“Product”means[theRT1caravanair-conditionerunit]suppliedwiththisWarrantyinAustralia,andusedexclusivelyinAustralia.“Supplier”meanstheauthoriseddistributororretaileroftheProductwhosoldYoutheProductorUsifWesoldyoutheProduct.“WarrantyPeriod”meanstheperiodoftimedefinedinclause2.“We”or“Us”or“Our”meansDENSOAutomotiveSystemsAustraliaPtyLtdACN007110929.“You”or“Your”meanstheretailpurchaseroftheProductfromtheSupplierortheoriginalend-useroftheProduct.
