November 11, 2009
Reflection:
This was a memorable day for me. I have been looking forward to this day--the Veterans Day Commemoration--
because my internship research is centered on student veterans . . . I couldnt help but be filled with gratitude forthese brave soldiers whose acts saved their fellowmen and their country.
Excerpts from my journal, November 11, 2009
I attended a panel discussion on advances in medical and psychological treatments for veterans. Topics such as
post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and neuroprostheses (artificial limbs with nerve sensors) were discussed. On
the panel were a medical doctor, a medical engineer, a psychologist and a military leader.
Eleven Utah veterans were honored today. Eight of
them fought in World War II, two served during the
Vietnam War, and one served in World War II and
the Korean War.

And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thru the night that our flag was still there.*
