Definition•  interconnection of uniquely identifiable embedded      computing devices within the existing Internet      infrastructure.

History

•  Ranging from wireless communication to the  Internet and from embedded systems to  micro-electromechanical  system(MEMS).

• First mentioned on <<The Road>> written from Bill Gates in 1995. This technique is first applied in MIT in 1998.
