So, you want to be an Intern…
The NLC Internship program was developed in 2004 by then Business Professionals of America National Post-Secondary President Dan Lynch. Since its inception the NLC Intern program has seen many changes and growth. In 2006 the in-tern program registration moved from paper to paperless with the creation of the Online Regis-tration System for Interns which was developed by Brenda Jacobsen and hosted by Idaho State University. During that conference 216 BPA mem-bers assisted behind the scenes in various posi-tions including the registration desk, working with the national staff and setting up for the gen-eral sessions. In 2010 the Intern Registration Sys-tem was integrated into the Business Profession-als of America online registration system and members and advisors now have a one stop shop where they are now able to register for, change and edit their own internship hours and Leader-ship Academy registration.

My experience interning led me to
do great things with BPA. I served as
a photography intern in Washington,
DC. I got to see a whole new side of
BPA, meet people from around the
country, and sharpen my photog-
raphy skills.
After intern-
ing in Wash-
ington, DC in
2011, I decid-
ed to run for
a National
Office in Chi-
cago, and
spent a won-
derful year
serving as
your National
Post-Secondary Secretary-Treasurer
in Orlando. My internship experience
opened a world of possibilities for
me, and deepened my love of BPA.
I hope that future interns are as in-
spired as I was to continue their in-
volvement in BPA. My intern experi-
ence was just the start to many ca-
reer opening opportunities.
