INTER-DISCIPLINARY PROJECT
THEME: International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development
CLASS VII
Inter-disciplinary Project allows the student to learn by making connections between ideas and
concepts across different disciplinary boundaries. Students learning in this way are able to apply the
knowledge gained in one discipline to another different discipline as a way to deepen the learning
experience. One of the major benefits of an interdisciplinary project is that the learners use and develop
their critical thinking skills as they begin to consolidate learning by synthesising ideas from many
perspectives. This approach is sure to foster a love for life-long learning, ignite a spark of enthusiasm
and cater to diverse learner interests.
In 2019 at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, 2021 was declared the International Year of
Creative Economy for Sustainable Development.
The creative economy has no single definition. It is an evolving concept which builds on the interplay
between human creativity and ideas and intellectual property, knowledge and technology. Essentially,
it is the knowledge-based economic activities upon which the ‘creative industries’ are based.
The creative industries – which include advertising, architecture, arts and crafts, design, fashion, film,
video, photography, music, performing arts, publishing, research & development, software, computer
games, electronic publishing, and TV/radio – are the building blocks of the creative economy. Today,
the creative industries are among the most dynamic sectors in the world economy, providing new
opportunities for developing countries to leapfrog into emerging high-growth areas of the world
economy.
Since, life skill education is an important life force in the evolution of the creative industries, we believe
that our learners must be trained at a young age as capable job creators, rather than job seekers, which
is the global need of the future.
The multitude of activities is designed to create a powerful learning experience and prioritize
integrative learning, critical thinking, and creative problem solving. This summer, the most
awaited Art Integrated Interdisciplinary Project is designed in such a way so as to ignite a
passion for discovery and experimentation in the learners, while the utmost care has been taken
to ensure a safe and healthy learning experience for our most treasured learners.
Stay healthy, stay safe!
Interdisciplinary project of 2021 has been designed to keep students engaged in fruitful
activities wherein no task requires intense research or needs material to be bought.
Please take good care of you and your family. In these unprecedented times, health and family
are of greatest importance. Let us pray and hope for a time of healing and envision a disease
free world once again.
May there be Well-Being for all.
May there be Peace for all.
MY DAILY PRAYER
Make me O Lord,
A channel of
Thy help and healing
In this world of
Suffering and pain!
May I befriend the lonely,
Soothe the distressed,
Give hope to the despairing!
May I give of my love,
My peace,
My Joy.
Give and give and ever give,
Give tirelessly, give
Without a thought of return!

Task-5 (Experiential Learning)
We use plastics in virtually every shape and form in our daily lives. It carries our drinks, holds
our shampoos, and keeps our veggies fresh. Plastic makes our lives incredibly convenient,
disposable, and easy, but most people rarely think about the effects it has on the environment.
Unlike other materials, it never really goes away. Plastic does break down, but in a landfill it
takes up to four hundred years. It breaks into microscopic pieces of plastic that are non-
biodegradable in nature. From there, plastic fragments most often find their way into the
oceans. Ocean animals are continuously ingesting small bits of residual plastic, which in turn
end up in our dishes. But it’s not just the end of a plastic’s life cycle we need to worry about.
When plastic is produced, it’s made from toxic materials such as benzene and vinyl
hydrochloride. These chemicals are known to cause cancer, and the manufacturing byproducts
contaminate our air and soil.
It may be impossible to escape the use of plastic completely, but you can help by recycling it
for at least two reasons:
Recycling takes 88% less energy than making plastic from raw materials while helping
reducing fossil fuel consumption and thus plays a great role in sustainable development.
Diverting discarded plastics from the refuse stream and turning them into new goods
keeps these persistent materials out of landfills and the natural environment.
Taking ideas from the link provided below make a small video of two minutes on any three
ways by which you can creatively make any three reusable items of your choice from the plastic
items available at home and thus recycling them.
