Installation Sheet - OSID Smoke Detection System

Detach Mounting Bracket and Front Cover. • ToDetachtheunitfromtheMountingBracket(A),openthefrontcoverandwithascrewdriverpushthe

lipbackwardstothenslidetheunituptodetachfromtheMountingBracket• ToprovidecableaccesstotheTerminationCardoftheImagerorexternally-poweredEmitter,usea

screwdriverasshownin(B)toremovetheFrontCover(C)fromthemainassembly.Removethecut-outsfromthebackortopofthemainassemblybyusingasharpbladetocutaroundthecirculardiscs.

Mounting via Mounting Bracket (Option 1):

Pleasefollowtheinstructionsinthisstepifyouhavechosentosecurethedetectorcomponenttothemountingsurfaceusingthesuppliedmountingbracket.Ifmountingdirectlytothemountingsurface,pleaseskiptoStep4.

• Usingthescrewholesofthebracketasatemplate,marktheinstallationpoint(A).• Usetheappropriatefastenerstofixthemountingbracketstothemountingsurface.Itisrecommended

thatstarwashersareusedtopreventthebracketsslipping.• Attachtherearassemblyofthecomponentontothemountingbrackets(B)• WhenmountingtheImagerunitsontothebrackets,ensurethattheribboncableatthebackofthefront

balldoesnotgetcaughtbetweentheunitandthebracket,asmovementofthefrontballmaypulltheribboncableoutoftheconnectors.

ThisinstallationsheetprovidesinformationonhowtoinstalltheOSIDSmokeDetectionSystem.FullproductinformationcanbefoundintheProductGuide(DocumentNo.15204).

OSIDAlignmentToolsfortheEmitterandImageraresoldseparately.Theyarerequiredforallproductinstallations.PleasecontactyourlocalXtralissupplierfororderinginformation.

OSIDInstallationKit(OSID-INST)

Determine the positions of the Imager and Emitter Components.

Makesurethattheintendedmountinglocationsmeetthefollowingcriteria:• Emitterspacingmustcomplywithlocalcodesandstandards(B)• EmittersmustbelocatedwithintheFieldofView(FOV)oftheImager(A)• ClearpathbetweentheEmitterandImager• Mountedwellabovethehead-heightofaperson• Avoiddirectsunlightontotheunits

Whensecuringthedetectortothemountingsurface,mounttheImagerfirstsothattheapproximateedgesofitsfieldofviewcanbedetermined.ThiswillshowtheregioninwhichtheEmitterunitscanbelocated.

TheImagerandEmitter/sshouldbeplacedwithinadistanceHbelowtheceiling.Thisvaluewillvaryaccordingtoregionalspecifications,geometry,andspecificrequirementsfortheinstallation.ThedistanceHforflatceilingsisshowninthefollowingtable.

Mounting directly to the mounting surface (Option 2):

Followthisstepifyouhavechosentosecurethedetectorcomponentdirectlyontothemountingsurfacewithoutusingthesuppliedmountingbracket.

• Drillthemountingscrewholesofthedetectorcomponent(threeplaces)(A).• Usingthedrilledscrewholesasatemplate,marktheinstallationpoint.• Useappropriatefastenerstosecurethedetectorcomponenttothemountingsurface.

Wire the Termination Card on the Imager and Emitters:

Note:Thisstepdoesnotapplytobattery-poweredEmitters.

For Imagers:

1. WiretheinitiatingdevicecircuitontheImagerTerminationCardusingtheFIREandFAULTrelayterminalsforafour-wire(A)deviceconnection.Formoredetail,pleaserefertotheProductGuide.

2. WireexternalpowertotheunitviathePOWERterminals.3. WiretheRemoteIndicator(B),heaterpowersupply(C)andexternalRESETinput(D)ifrequired.4. Re-attachthefrontcoveroftheImager.

For externally-powered Emitters:

1. ConnectpowertotheEmitterviatheVinandVoutterminals(E)ontheTerminationCard.2. Re-attachthefrontcoveroftheEmitter.

Note:AnalogAddressableInputModulescanalsobeusedwiththesystem.Forfurtherdetail,pleaseconsulttheProductGuide.

8 Initiate Training Mode:

Oncemounted,finalsystemalignmentisachievedbyinitiatingTrainingMode:

1. EnsurethatallthespheresoftheEmitters/Imagerarelockedinplaceandexternally-poweredEmittersarepowered.

2. ApplypowertotheImagertoinitiateTrainingMode.AfterpoweringuptheImager,theImagerwillsearchforEmittersinitsfieldofview,andtheTroubleLEDwillindicatethatthedetectorisinTrainingMode.TrainingModetakesabout10minutestocomplete,afterwhichthedetectorwillstartnormaloperationorreportaTroubleCode.RefertotheOSIDProductGuide(DocumentNo.15204)availableatwww.xtralis.comforfulllistanddescriptionoftheTroubleCodes.

Manually adjust the Emitter/s and Imager until they are aligned:

Note:TheOSIDLaserAlignmentToolmustbeusedtoalignthesystem.

Followthesestepstoadjusttheopticalsphere(A)ofthedetectorcomponenttoalignthesystem:

1. SwitchonandinserttheOSIDAlignmentToolinthealignmenthole(B).2. ToalignanEmitter,movethealignmenttooluntilthelaserbeampointsneartheImagerandwithinthe

limitsshowninDiagramC.Rotatethealignmenttool90°clockwisetolockthesphereintoplaceandactivatetheEmitter.ASTOPpositionwillbefeltwhenthesphereislocked.

3. ToaligntheImager,usetheOSIDAlignmentTooltopositiontheImagertopointdirectlytowardsasingleEmitterorinthegravitationalcentreofmultipleEmitters.Rotatethealignmenttool90°clockwisetolockthesphereintoplace.ASTOPpositionwillbefeltwhenthesphereislocked.

4. MakesurethatthealignmentoftheEmitterorImagerisaccordingtothespecifiedlimitsafterlockingthesphere.Removethelasertool.
