System DescriptionThe In -Labeler can be configured to perform up to five labelinspections on one machine. The specific label names and input/
output assignments are not user programmable and must beprogrammed in the software by the factory. If changes need to bemade in the label names new software is required. The selection ofthe label names is optional and must be included with the machineorder. Otherwise default names are used. All label names shown inthis manual are default names.
Special software is also available that allows the user to set analarm if a specific number of rejects occur within a set number ofinspections. This feature is called the X out of Y Alarm. Thisfeature is an option that must be selected at the time of order or itwill not be programmed into the machine.
Installation ProcedureBefore proceeding with this installation, all other FT -50 inspectionsmust be set up, and the FT -50/70 rejector timing must be set andverified. Perform the FT -50/70 inspection setup according to theinstructions in your inspection system manual.
1. Watch bottles as they past through the labeler. Find a locationto install each label sensor so that the label is facing outside oflabeler (as much as possible).
2. Install the Container Present sensor upstream of all labelsensors, or at the same centerline as the label sensor mountedfurthest upstream.
Install the System Timing sensor to detect an object on thelabeler that will generate a consistent single pulse for eachlabeler pocket.
4. Jog the labeler until the System Timing sensor just t u r n s ON,then continue to Jog the labeler an additional one half pocketwidth.
3.

5. Adjust the Container Present sensor from downstream toupstream until it just turns on or detects the container.
6. Adjust each label sensor from downstream to upstream untilthey just turn on or detect a label. Make sure that the label is inthe position and orientation that will be seen in production.
Learn InLabeler Offsets1. On the FT -50/70 display, select the LEARN INLABELER OFFSET
function under button 2.
2. Be prepared to run a single bottle through the labeler that willhave all labels applied that need their offsets learned.
3. Press either arrow key to start the LEARN INLABELEROFFSET function.
4. Run the single bottle through the system and stop the labelerwhen the bottle has reached the Tangent Release Point (T.R.P.)of the labeler outfeed star.
5. The container should be free to continue onto the outfeedconveyor. Five seconds after the labeler has stopped, all labelsdetected will have their offsets set, and the CNTR PRST TOT.R.P OFFSET will also be set.

Learn the T.R.P. to Trigger Distance
1. Select the LEARN T.R.P. TO TRIG DIST under button 2.
2. Run a second container through at a speed that maintains a slip
rate of less than 50% at the outfeed start.
3. Allow the single container to go all the way through the FT-50inspection tunnel.
4. The system will then set the T.R.P. TO TRIG DIST inmillimeters.

Fine Tune the In - Labeler Setup
1. Fine tune T.R.P. TO TRIG DIST at production speeds. Seedescription of setting. The optimum setting will give anaverage position of 25% -50%.
2. Verify that the average signal positions of all label sensors andthe Container Present sensor are within 25% -75% duringnormal production. Make any minor sensor adjustments asneeded. Optimum average position is 50%.
Setup Series Alarms as required. Alarm setup is under buttonnumber 5.
3.
4. Enable label rejection by setting UPSTM LBL INSP RJ ENABLEto ON.
5. Verify that each label inspection rejects the proper containers atdifferent speeds. The MAXIMUM SLIP RATE may need to beadjusted to define the stable track speeds.

Defines the number of millimeters from theTangent Release Point (T.R.P.) to the inspectionhead trigger. The position percentage(POS=xxx%) is the position of the trailing edgeof the inspection trigger relative to the delayedsystem timing signal for the last container. The
position of the last 16 containers. The T.R.P. TOTRIGGER DIST. should be fine tuned in normalproduction until the average position is within

Description
Defines the number of millimeters for onecontainer pitch in the outfeed star of the labeler.
This value defines the maximum allowed sliprate before the secondary tracking method isenabled. The primary tracking system assumesthat the bottle does not slip on the conveyormore than ± one half a container pitch. Typicalvalue is 25%. First value displayed is theMAXIMUM SLIP RATE setting, second value(CUR=) is the current measured slip rate at theoutfeed star.
This setting is used to disable rejection of allupstream label inspections. The label inspectionwill still detect and alarm when missing labelsoccur. Default is OFF.
This function displays the width of the lastSystem Timing Period and a running average ofthe last 16 samples. Pressing either arrow keywill toggle the display to the MIN and MAXvalues. The minimum and maximum values areused to help troubleshoot missing or extrasystem timing signals. The MIN and MAXvalues are reset when you return to the WIDTHand AVG screen.
This function displays the position of the activeedge of the Container Present signal relative tothe System Timing Period. The normal operatingrange for the active edge is 25 -75%. The sensorwill have to be adjusted upstream ordownstream relative to the bottle flow until the
AVG, MIN and MAX values are within thisrange when the labeler is running at normalproduction speeds. Pressing either arrow keywill toggle the display to the MIN and MAXvalues.
