SciVal “API”Application programming interface
An API is just another content delivery mechanism
By utilizing the new public API, you can download the most common metrics for institutions and researchers. It allows you to automate repetitive tasks, thus saving quite a bit of time and effort but requires some technical knowledge.
Every action in SciVal uses the API behind the scenes. Currently you can download SciVal metrics from anywhere in the scival.com platform using the export function, however this can be quite labor intensive for repetitive work.
For the first release you are able to retrieve metrics on researchers (author profiles) and institutions
• Scholarly Output• Publications in Top Journal Percentiles• Outputs in Top Citation Percentiles• Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI)• Collaboration• Citation Count• Citations Per Publication (CPP)• h-indeces• Collaboration Impact• Cited Publications• This covers 86% of all metrics calls. There will be an initial
limitation of 2,000 metric requests per month per user.

Closing Remarks• Developments in technology have allowed innovation to really
change the way people in the research eco-system do what they do. Research Intelligence did not exist 15 years ago.
• Scopus is a GREAT data-source for analytics. A simple model.
• Big-data analytics in SciVal compliment qualitative inputs to hopefully enable humans to make fair judgements. SciVal uses same data source as THE and QS Rankings, as well as the subject classifications.
Thank you
