Touro University 5th Annual Social Justice inPublic Health Lecture Series- September 9and 23

On September 9 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Touro University California(TUC) will host the second lecture, Water Justice for All, for their fifth annualSocial Justice in Public Health Lecture Series. In the second of this six-lecture series, guests will hear from Mona Hanna-Attisha, MD, MPH andPhoebe Seaton. Touro University will host the third lecture on September 23from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The third lecture will focus on EnergyInfrastructure, Climate Change and Indigenous Health.

The City of Vallejo Fire and PoliceDepartments invite the communityto attend the annual 9/11commemorative service. Visions of the Wild- September 12-14

Visions of the Wild Opening Reception- September 12

On September 12, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., there will be an opening

reception at the Vallejo Naval and Historic Museum for the Visions of the

Wild Film and Arts Festival. The theme for this year's festival is "Transforming

Fire." The museum will host a special exhibit honoring Smokey Bear's 75th

anniversary. At this free event, there will be food and drinks, guest speakers,

and a special Smokey Bear exhibition. Following this event will be a series of

films at the Empress Theatre.

Visions of the Wild - Film screenings: California on Fire & Wilder Than

Wild-September 13

There will be two documentary filmsscreening at the Empress Theatre onSeptember 13. The films include"California on Fire," directed by JeffFrost, and "Wilder Than Wild,"produced by Stephen Most and KevinWhite. After the screening of"California on Fire," there will be aquestion and answer discussion withdirector Jeff Frost.

"Wilder Than Wild" is an hourdocumentary that reveals how firesuppression and climate changehave exposed the forests andwildland-urban landscapes to large,high-severity wildfires, and exploresstrategies to mitigate the impact ofthese fires. Solano County Fairgrounds will host the SirFrancis Drake Kennel Club Dog Show fromSeptember 12 to September 15 between 8:00a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This is an AKC approved event with agility, breed and juniorshowmanship competitions. Vallejo Food & Art Walk- September 13

The Vallejo Art Walk and Food Truck Mania by SactoMoFo and in partnershipwith Cal Maritime Anchor Center, occurs on the second Friday of everymonth. The event, located in the Downtown Vallejo Arts and EntertainmentDistrict, encourages the sale of art and celebrates the growth of artistsmoving to the area. Most businesses and galleries are located within thecentral area of the downtown district, and easily accessible by foot. A map ofthe area highlights stores participating in the art walk. Artists set up and sellart on the sidewalks and indoors. The Vallejo Food and Art Walk will be heldfrom 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on September 13. FAME! JR. at Bay Area Stage Theatre!-September 13

FAME! JR. is the bittersweet, but ultimately inspiring, story of a diverse groupof students who commit to four years of grueling artistic and academic work.With candor, humor and insight, the show explores the issues that confrontmany young people today. FAME JR's topical subject matter and a cast thatcan include plenty of singers, dancers and instrumentalists, is an idealmusical for aspiring artists and performers.

Ode To Labor- September 13

Drummer/percussionist Curt Moore satin with the Cal Tjader alumni band,Radcliffe, and became indoctrinated tothe style and intoxicating sounds ofTjader. Using the same instrumentationas Tjader's band, Moore and vibe playerJon Eriksen formed Soul Sauce. Doingmostly jazz covers with newarrangements, Soul Sauce has mostdefinitely inherited the qualities of theTjader band.

Real Impostors 30th AnniversaryBenefit- September 22

The Real Impostors will be joined byspecial guests alumni for their finalfarewell show. Proceeds from thisspecial event will go to support theongoing fight to reduce premature deathand disability from the two leading killersin America: Cardiovascular Disease andCancer.

The Real Impostors began their musicaljourney in 1989, when a few localmusicians came together at the requestof a Bay Area promoter to play a singleshow. 2019 Big Vallejo Brewhaha-September 14

The Big Vallejo BrewHaha celebrates all things beer while supporting criticalcommunity services! On September 14, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., come tothe Vallejo Waterfront and enjoy unlimited sampling of craft brews from over30 brewers around the region, local food, live music and fun activities. On September 15, from 2:00 p.m. to4:00 p.m., visual artist Todd Gilenstalks about his Reading Forest project,an artwork celebrating the wisdom andresilience of forests, at the McCuneRoom in the JFK Library. Inconjunction with the National ForestFoundation's Lake Tahoe West project,Todd Gilens' Reading Forest projectconsists of a series of drawings madeof earth pigments and ink. Mare Island PedalFest-September 29

The Mare Island PedalFest is focused ongathering all ages and abilities for two-wheelfun while exploring the spectacles andscenes of Mare Island. The event featuresthree family-friendly components: an urbancyclo-cross race for all levels called the WetMile Urban CX; a cruiser bike ride tourshowcasing the historical landmarks of theisland, and a youth BMX bike rodeo withOlympian Donny Robinson. Benefits will gotowards the Mare Island MuseumFoundation and the Napa Valley Vine TrailCoalition. Registration ranges between $15 and $40. Community CoffeeTasting - Every Saturday

Sample over 30 varieties of fresh roastedcoffee, browse crafts from local artisans,and listen to local musicians duringMoschetti Coffee's Community CoffeeTasting event. Coffee has many complexflavors, and subtle differences can betasted when compared side-by-side. Atthe tastings, participants can learn aboutacidity levels, try coffee brewing in theaeropress or simply have an espresso.Tasters can also talk with the staff aboutthe different roasts or how to preparecertain beverages.
