Failure to function as a full-f ledged University, AllManipur Students Union(AMSU) today announced‘shut-down of all activities ofthe Dhanamanjur i (DM)University includingcounselling of new students.Speaking to media person atthe head off ice of AMSU,Peter Laishram , President ofAMSU said that theUniversity was in total chaos.He said that the universitydoesn’t have regular ViceChancellor or registrar. Moreover he added that thereisn’t any syndicate members,Academic Council and Deansof the University where it is amust for being a university.

“As DM University was not amember of the Association ofIndian University, thecertificates which the studentsprocure will be completelyuseless”, Peter added.Highlighting the lack ofvarious things for being aUniversity, Peter said that asthere were no proper teachingand non teaching staffs of thevarsity and the students havefaced tremendous problems.And also the studentsstudying in the varsitydoesn’t receive theirregistration numbers till now,he added.He also said that the studentshave never participated in anyEast Zone or national andinternational competition asthe university was not amember of AIU.

He stressed that until thevarsity has a proper ViceChancellor and registrarselected under proper Rulesand regulations and alsovarious other things which aUniversity must have, all theactivities of the varsity will beshut down from today. He said that all the failures ofbeing a proper university ismainly because of the lack ofcer tain things a universitymust have.He further said that all theresponsibility should be heldby the present government aswell as the concern authorities.Peter concluded by sayingthat student should never facesuch situations from nowonwards and also authoritiesshould never play with thecarrier of the students’ life.

IT NewsImphal, June 23, High Court of Manipur byJudgment / Order dated June11, 2019 in PIL No. 23 of 2019has directed the Pr incipalSecretary of Health ,Government of Manipur toinquire without any furtherdelay for misuse of publicfunds in construction ofPrimary Health Centre (PHC)at Rilram Centre, Tengnoupal,Manipur. The Primary Health Centre atRilram Centre is funded byNABARD for Hill District ofManipur right from the year2011. The Construction anddevelopment of the PHC isimplemented by theGovernment of Manipurthrough an agency calledManipur DevelopmentSociety. However, even afterthe lapse of 7 yearsconstruction of PHC remainincomplete and abandon bythe concerned contractors. Forest Depar tment,Government of Manipur, alongwith NGOs and other civilorganisations, have beentrying to save the hill Rangeat Tentha and other adjoiningareas by stopping illegalexcavation and clear felling oftrees. This endeavour ofForest Department, NGOs andother civil bodies is also in

compliance with the variousorders passed by the HighCourt of Manipur in PIL No 25of 2017.The excavator (JCB) and thetrucks were caught by theforest staffs who were notarmed while excavating thesaid protected Hill Range atTentha Thambal Chingya inThoubal district.

An elderly couple and theirmaid were found murderedat their first floor flat inSouth Delhi’s Vasant ViharSunday morning, policesaid.

Vishnu Mathur (78), his wifeShashi Mathur (75) and theirfull time domestic helpKhushbu (20) were foundwith stab wounds in theirthroats.“Another domestic help ofthe couple who came towork around 8.30 am found

them murdered. She alertedthe neighbours whoinformed the police,” deputycommissioner of police(southwest) Devender Aryasaid.The officer said the entryinto the house seemedfriendly. Mathur and his
