BIOMAS-BURNING RUN

• Constructed a data base of forest fire obtained from satellite images classify it as: No burning (0), Small burning (1), Medium burning (2), Heavy burning (3)

BIOMAS-BURNING RUN

• Constructed a data base of forest fire obtained from satellite images classify it as: No burning (0), Small burning (1), Medium burning (2), Heavy burning (3)

The satellite images are of August 17, 22, 24, 25 and 28 1997.

• Input the coded data of forest fire into the RegCM

• Run the tracer model with a change in optical property (absorbing aerosol – black carbon/soot)This is coded especially for this particular project

CONCLUSION

The model can capture:the transport and removal processdecrease of shortwave radiation reaching

the surface ; cooling of surface tropospheric warming effect of absorbing

aerosol (BC)influence on convection ??
