Welcome
The school year at GGIS is about to commence and we would like to take the
opportunity to welcome you all.
Education can be linked to a great big canvas and this year we would like our
students to throw as much paint as they can on the canvas of their education.
We appeal to the students, the parents and the teachers to value and uphold the
importance of intrinsic motivation.
This year, we have no doubt that our students will throw themselves into their
education. They will make the most of the canvas of the opportunities that they
are given. They will paint the goals that they aspire to. We have no doubt that if
they remain motivated in the classroom, then they will achieve their goals. Their
education is sound, creative and innovative and GGIS, the parents and the
students themselves will help to make this a reality.
The teachers at GGIS will take action to help the students to achieving academic,
sporting, cultural and life-long learning.

Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome to GGIS. The faculty and administration hope that you will have a successful and enjoyable experience at GLORY GENERATION INTERNATIONAL.
At GGIS, we strive to provide students with outstanding educational opportunities during their elementary school years.
We offer a challenging and rigorous curriculum made up of both core area and elective classes. Our core area classes--English, Math, Science, Arabic, Islamic studies and Social studies--provide a foundation for students as they continue to pursue learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Our additional course offerings include physical education, art, computers, and applied activities.
Elementary school can be a challenging time.
Please know that the faculty and staff of GGIS are here to assist you and your children in any way possible.
We offer a variety of extracurricular activities and programs to assist students. Our Parent-School Partners organization publishes a "Student Handbook" each year detailing the opportunities available to elementary school students, and we also provide all students with the needed knowledge that can enrich their minds and help them scaffold to the next stage.
We encourage all students to become involved in activities to apply their skills in life.

ABOUT GGIS Glory Generation International School (GGIS) is a private, independent, and
international, non- discriminative, selective, English-medium day schools that
is serving both the local and expatriate communities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
GGIS is co-educational from nursery till Grade 3 , and only girls‘section from
grade 4 to grade 8 .It is operating legally under the supervision of Ministry of
Education.

A. The school’s Library:
It is full of variety of books, a projector, speakers and two desktop computers
with internet access. Students are having classes there in order to discuss and
research as co-curricular activities.
B. Phonics lab:
It is equipped with head phones, projector, speakers and desktop computer
connected to a complete sound system unit. Students are having phonics classes
to be exposed to native speakers’ accent which helps our students to pronounce
language in a correct way.
C. Science laboratory:
It is equipped with a variety of apparatuses, glassware and the materials needed
for different experiments. Students are having science classes there to execute
any needed experiment in their way of researching through their scientific
journey.
D. Computer lab:
The school provides its students with a well-equipped computer lab which
enables the teachers to integrate technology in their lesson plans.
The school has enough computer units to help the students achieving effective
learning of technology.
E. Sports court:
The school has a spacious playground: The students have their physical education classes there and sometimes enjoy outdoor activities.

The school Day School starts at 06:30 am and ends at 12:55 pm. for all grades.
Staff supervision will be available from 06:30 am. and from 1:00pm-2:00 pm .
Morning assembly starts at 06:45am
First period starts at 07:00 am
Students should arrive no later than 07:00 am.
School will not be responsible for any student who arrives before 06:30 am or
leaves after 2:00 pm.

Admission Guidelines Admissions
A. General introduction:
GGIS follows a selective admission policy based on pre-admission assessment of
academic promise.
With a curriculum designed for the college-bound student, and a student-teacher
ratio of ten to one, one hundred percent of GGIS graduates go on to institutions
of higher learning.
B. Student Records from other schools:
After the students from other schools pass the placement tests and the interview,
they are given a letter to ask his older school to send the student file.
C. Required documents:
The following documents should be submitted with the application form:
• Original of the 2 years school report cards attested by the respective official sectors.
• A copy of the student’s valid passport.
• A copy of the student’s birth certificate.
• A copy of the student’s valid ID card “iqama”.
• A copy of the student’ vaccination certificate.
• A copy of the parents’/guardians’ valid passport.
• A letter stating that the parents have no pending financial issues from the
previous school.
• A sealed letter of conduct from the previous school.
The completion of the application form is the first step in the application process.

E. Admission Procedures
1. Students with their mothers will take a tour at the school premises.
2. Students accompanied with their mothers will have an interview with
the school principal.
3. All graders and kg3 students will sit for a placement test, while kg1 and
kg2 students will be interviewed.
4. After successfully passing the test, the student should complete the
registration file and submit the required documents within 3 days.

The students are required to fill the re- enrolment slip at the end of the year and

General Policies and Procedures A. Arrival and Collection Policy: (Guide line to Classes Time)
• We have a very strict policy relating to dropping and collecting students.
This applies to the normal school day and any other time that students are in the
school’s care, e.g. Special events and sports events outside the school premises.
• It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to ensure that the students
arrive on time and are collected on time. The school will not be responsible for
students who stay half an hour after the assigned dismissal time.
• In case of emergencies, where parents are going to be late in collecting
their children, the school has to be notified and late children will be assigned to
designated waiting areas.
• Parents are required to provide details and contact numbers of all persons
who are to bring or collect their children from the school through the student’s
collecting information. It is the responsibility of the parent to keep this
information up-to-date.
• The school will only allow the person, whose name is registered in the
above documents, to collect your child unless you give prior written permission
for another to do so.
• The school reserves the right to prevent anyone collecting a child with
whom we are not familiar.
• The school does not allow students to be taken from classes early unless
notified with a valid excuse or reason. In such cases we ask the parents to provide
relevant documentation to verify the reason.
• Parents who wish to pick up their children early need to pass by the head of
school’s office for early dismissal permission slip to be presented to the floor
supervisor.
• School students need to be collected from their classes, mothers or nannies
will not be allowed into the school building before the bell rings.

• Fathers or drivers are not allowed into the building as per the directions of
the ministry of education, and need to wait for the students at the gates. These
students will be called upon by the microphone and will be escorted out to the
gate to be collected.
• Upper grades students will leave alone at the dismissal time. No parents,
drivers or nannies will be allowed into the buildings at that time
B. Attendance and lateness Policy:
GGIS puts a high priority on student attendance. It is important for student
to be in school in a consistent routine of study and participation in school
activities. This is the best way to build a strong academic record and to establish
the reputation of involvement and responsibility.
Students who are absent for more than two consecutive days, are expected
to bring a written excuse from a parent or guardian upon their return to school.
Students give these excuses to the administration, and the letter is put in their
file. In all cases, parents will be contacted by message, too. If the absence occurs
repeatedly with no valid reason disciplinary action may be taken.
A. Attendance Procedure
• It is expected that the students will attend classes every school day. All teachers
will take role and keep a record of absences and tardiness.
• An absence includes the following: illness, doctor visits, travel, vacations, etc.
• Upper primary school students who are absent for more than 20 school days
during an academic year and middle school students who are absent for more
than 15 school days during an academic year might be asked to withdraw from
school the coming academic year. The final decision will rest solely with the
concerned head of school.

• In case of any absence beyond 15 days, all evaluated work (i.e. Tests, projects,
assignments, etc.) of that subject will be worth a maximum of 85%.
• A student and his/her parents should work closely with the classroom or
specialist teacher to ensure that any missed work due to an absence is made up
soon as possible. Students are responsible for making up for any missed work.
B. Prior Arrangements/ Early leave:
GGIS strongly discourages students taking extended vacations during a term or
leaving school prior to the normal closing date. Students missing classes lose
essential instruction and place increased demands on classroom teachers in the
areas of record-keeping, administering make-up work, etc. During the planning
for an extended absence, parents and students should understand that teachers
cannot possibly, in all cases, re-teach the lesson nor provide make-up assignments
to cover all the material that will be missed. Since a student presumably needs to
attend the full term to receive proper learning, it is reasonable to expect that the
extended absences will usually result in a lower grade. However, occasions may
arise where extended absences are necessary. When this is the case, the school
will make every reasonable attempt to reduce the damage to student’s
educational program.
C. Lateness:
Students are expected to be in class on time. If students are late to class, it causes
a disruption and interrupts the learning process. Many times, students will miss
important information that is impossible to make up for. A student is considered
late if she/he enters the room after the class has begun but within the first 20
minutes. Students arriving after 20 minutes will be recorded as absent.
Teachers have the right not to admit late students if they missed more than 20
minutes of the period.
• All students late to the first period must receive a permission slip from the
head school office.

• All students who are late in any period are registered by the teachers.
• Continued tardiness will result in office referrals with increasingly
severe consequences.
• In case a student is late (for the first three times) an sms is to be sent to
his/her parent who is to come to sign a commitment that his son/daughter is to
arrive at school on time.
• In case that a student is late for the fourth time, he/she is to lose ¼ mark of
participation of the first period subject.
• In case that a student is late more than 4 times, he/she is to lose marks
from attendance and conduct marks in the final report.
D. Medical Appointments and Absences
If students have a medical appointment during school time, please let us know
and arrange for them to be collected from school.
However, please do everything that you can to ensure that your child has full
attendance at school. Whenever possible, please make medical and dental
appointments out of school time.
Early Checkout at the End of a Term (upper school students)
When it becomes necessary for a student to leave school prior to the end of the
year exams, arrangements will be done by the school administration and the
student will not be issued a report card. ( according to the ministry regulations)
If a student does not complete all requirements of a class, including the final
examination, a grade of 5/20 will be given to any missing exam. The school does
not make previsions for early final examination.
Mixing classes at the end of the academic year
Mixing classes is something that is carried out at the end of each academic year
for number of important reasons, all to be benefiting the student.

When looking at the classes in any level, we strive to achieve balances within each
class. The balances should be in areas such as; aptitude of children, language
ability, friend group, cultural backgrounds, nationalities, and special learning
needs. There is a belief that mixing classes gives the students better social skills
and assists with meeting new people in later life. Mixing the classes also gives
students a broader experience of different people with different personalities,
backgrounds and cultures, and helps them to learn how to relate to them. Having
a good balance of students in a class allows them to learn in a more settled and
appropriate environment.
Many meetings take place where teachers talk about the students and see what
the best combination is in order to create a well-balanced classroom.
The class lists are then produced and reviewed many times by teachers, social
workers, and heads of schools. It is therefore very important to mention that it is
not possible for us to accommodate parents’ wishes. However, we can definitely
assure you that we will make every effort possible to ensure that your child is
placed in the best learning environment.
Personal Hygiene, Hair, Nails and Makeup
Personal hygiene is of the utmost importance. Hair must be clean and neat. Girls’
hair must be tied at all times and must not interfere with their vision. Boys’ hair
should be short and neat. Long hairstyles are strictly forbidden for boys. Unusual
hairstyles are not permitted at an educational institution. Students will
immediately be sent home and may only return to school once the hair conforms
to the school rules.
No make-up is allowed and nail varnish is prohibited. Nails need to be cut and
kept clean constantly.
Valuable belongings, jewellery, and mobile phones:
No valuables (expensive watches, necklaces, rings, etc.) should be worn at school.
Students should leave their valuables at home. These also include iPods, mp3s,
electronic game, large sums of money, etc.

Regarding jewellery, girls may only wear one stud per ear, and boys are not
permitted to wear earrings at all. Both boys and girls may wear a wristwatch. No
necklaces, anklets, or bracelets may be worn by students. No facial jewellery may
be worn, other than the aforementioned ear stud.
Mobile phones are strictly forbidden for primary school students. For upper
school students mobiles are to be turned off during the school day and may be
used only at dismissal time. In case of an emergency, students may call their
parents from the administration. Generally, forgotten homework, books, lunches,
going to a friend, etc., are not considered an emergency.
The school is not responsible for any lost items mentioned above.
Lost Books:
When a student loses a book, he/she must pay for the replacement of the original
book. The student will have to manage with notes or handouts until she/he buys
the new book from the school bookshop. The school is not responsible for any
missing books, copybooks, and bags.
Birthdays and Class Parties
Birthdays will be permitted by informing the school 2 days before the birthday.
Parents will be responsible for all expenses related to the birthday.
All birthdays will be handled only on last Wednesday of every month and during
the break time.
Our Statement of Student Success
Successful students understand their role in learning and put forth their best
effort to exceed their expectations. Students that are motivated and inspired to
continuously improve academically and personally are successful. Successful
students are respectful and responsible school citizens who contribute to a
positive learning community.

Students
Students are expected to put their best effort into every task they attempt. They
are also expected to participate in all school/ class activities. In terms of academic
requirement, students are expected to complete all tasks and sit for all
examinations. Students are responsible for completing work that was missed as a
result of a partial or whole day absence.
Parents
Parents are responsible for:
• Ensuring that their children attend school regularly.
• Ensuring that their children arrive at school before lessons start and they are ready to learn (with all necessary items)
• Explaining the absences of their children from school.
• Taking measures to resolve attendance issues involving their children.
• Parents are asked to make holiday travel arrangements in a way that ensures that their children not only attend each school day, but also have sufficient rest and are ready to learn upon their return.
Parents’ access to school
• Mothers are allowed to attend the school during the school day with previous assigned appointment or without in case of emergencies.
• Fathers are not allowed to the school under the regulations of Saudi Ministry of Education.

Glory Generation International School offers the American International Program
(SAT) from (k-8) which is designed to focus on the growth of the developing child
touching hearts as well as minds and encompassing social, physical, emotional
and cultural needs in addition to academic development.
It is a trans disciplinary program of international education designed to foster the
development of the whole child as an inquirer, both inside and outside the
classroom
The program provides a relevant, engaging, challenging and significant
educational framework for all children and prepares them to become active
participants in a lifelong journey of learning and leaders of their own future.
It encourages international-mindedness, a positive attitude to learning and in-
depth inquiry into real issues. Our teachers work towards preparing students to
become internationally minded citizens with attributes outlined in the learner
profile.
Through an integrated approach to teaching and learning, we use a variety of
differentiated teaching methods drawn from a range of exciting learning tasks
and strategies applied to all key learning areas.
Specialist teachers plan and work collaboratively with classroom teachers to
implement a trans disciplinary program of creativity.
This is achieved by integrating subject areas so students can make connections
within the program. Subjects taught are mathematics, English language, science,
social studies, Islamic studies, Saudi history, computer science, French language,
Quran, art and physical education.

Assessment A multitude of methods of assessments are required throughout the school year.
A. Weekly grades:
• Quizzes – covering a topic or a section
• Tests – covering a chapter, unit or a selection.
Student Merits:
A. Class work –generated during a lesson

C. Homework – work assigned by the teacher to be done at home. (Daily)
D. Behavior – conduct and attendance.
B. End of Semester Grades:
Students from grade1 - 3 (have continual testing system) will receive a
comprehensive report card at the end of each semester providing information to
parents about the student's performance level, achievement, work-study habits,
attitude and behaviour, attendance, and any other comments the teacher may
wish to make
Students from grade4 -8 will receive a report cards issued at the end of each
quarter. Students are evaluated at the end of each quarter on their achievement,
work-study, attitudes and behaviour, their participation in class, quizzes, and
semester exams. The comprehensive report cards at the end of each quarter
provide information to parents about the student's performance in the core
curriculum subjects and related activities.

D. Evaluation/Report Cards/Interim Report
Student's progress is recorded and the evaluation or the report card is issued four
times a year at the end of each quarter.
A student's report card is an important record of his/her accomplishments and
progress.
Parents of students who are under achieving academically may receive
notification via academic warnings sent home with students to be signed by
parents and returned.
All clarification or concern regarding grades has to refer to the academic
coordinator for re-evaluation in the presence of the concerned
subject/homeroom teacher.

Interim report may be issued at the time during the term if the students work is
below average, failing or has shown exceptional progress.

Weekly plans • All quizzes, homework, class notes and worksheets are referred to in the
weekly plan.
• Weekly plans are distributed to all students every Thursday for the week
ahead on the school site.
• Weekly quizzes are listed in a table arranged in the days shown on the
weekly plan.
Policy and Procedures during Term Exams For Grades 4-8
The following represents the policy and procedures that students should be
aware of during term exams:
• All students are required to sit for end of term exams. No student will be
exempted.
• When instructed to enter the assigned exam room, students are requested
to do so in a quiet and orderly manner.
• Students should sit in the assigned place at least five minutes before the
exam is scheduled to start. Students are expected to comply with the decision of
the teacher/proctor.
• Students should write their name, class, and section on all question sheets,
answer sheets, and scratch papers using a pen only. No pencils are allowed.
• Any student arriving late will not be given extra time to complete the exam
unless clearance is given by the head of school.
• Students must bring to their seats only the material required for the exam.
Personal belongings not required for the exam must be placed in areas as
designated by the teacher/proctor.
• Borrowing or any type of communication between students is strictly
forbidden during exams.

• Teachers/proctor is not authorized to answer any questions related to the
content of the exams.
• Students are not allowed to leave the examination room once they are in,
unless in case of emergency and after the approval of the teacher/proctor.
• The instructions of the teacher/proctor must be obeyed at all times. The
teacher/proctor has the right to expel a student from the exam room if his/her
behavior interferes with the proper conduct of the examination.
• Cheating, receiving and possessing unauthorized information, as well as
giving out such information is considered a major offense committed by all
students involved and will be severely dealt with. Students who are caught
cheating during an exam will be given a zero and will not be entitled for a make-
up.
• Students who have submitted their exams should remain seated until the
teacher/proctor allows them to leave the room.
• It is the students’ responsibility to make sure that all their answers are
completely submitted to the teacher/proctor. Students are not allowed to check
their exam sheets once they submit them.
Homework policy Providing a healthy educational environment that integrates academic excellence
and well-defined life-like activities to challenge the learners' critical thinking and

• Allow students to explore different learning techniques and styles to support their in- class learning. • Allow advanced students to expand their interests. Homework assignments must not:
• Be self-study assignments of new content.
• Exceed the time allowances set below.
• Be simple ‘busy-work’ tasks.
• Form a significant part of formal assessment.
Homework Time Allowances:
The time allowances outlined here are upper limits and subject to the following
conditions:

• That the student should work effectively on his/her task.
• That distractions and poor time management may affect the student's time negatively.
• Incomplete class work is not included
• If a student has fallen behind due to wasted time in school, it is reasonable to expect that they should catch up on the missed work in addition to the set homework tasks.

• Not use homework as a punitive measure.
• Set differentiated homework tasks whenever necessary.

• Ensure deadlines are fair given the scope of the task.
• Refer to homework and assessment calendars in order to avoid overloading
students with deadlines.
The Student:
In addition to the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders ,the student must:

• Provide a home environment that is supportive and conducive to studying.
• Assist their child with time-management and resources required for

• Students should always wear the school uniform.
• The school uniform is the student identity; the school expects the student
to dress, groom, and be neat, clean and in good taste.
• Students should not wear headgear, hats, caps, earmuffs, or sunglasses in
the school premises.
• Female students should always tie their hair.
• All kinds of jewelry are not allowed at the school.
• Students must wear black shoes, boots, sandals and slippers are not

• Only one student should be inside the bathroom.

Library Procedures:
• Students are allowed to check out books for a period of one week
• Student may have more than one book checked out at any given time.
• Lost or damaged books have to be paid for or replaced by the student.
• There will be no refund until payment has been received.
Discipline at GGIS Discipline Policy
High standard of discipline is expected from all students at all times. Misbehaviors
are dealt with promptly and fairly. The purpose of our discipline policy is to
encourage high standards of courtesy, conduct and self discipline amongst
students. This is important so they can reach their full potential, without
disruption, within a healthy, safe and caring environment.
Discipline Records
Parents should be aware that when a student fails to meet our expectations in
terms of managing their own behavior, a record of actions will be taken within the
school by the teacher in charge.
The record will be registered in the student’s file together with the action taken
by the school. Actions may involve interviews with the parents as well as the
student. By doing this, more serious consequences may be avoided.
Under normal circumstances, the record is not an ongoing record to hold against
students. Rather, it is a documentation the school may need when interviewing
parents.

School canteen
• School canteen is opened from 6:45 -7:30 a.m. ,and during break time only.
• Students are not allowed to purchase any kind of food from the canteen
during class time, including P.E. Purchasing water is only allowed
• Duty teachers will be working to line up students and avoid congestion
during break time.
• Food sales will end five minutes before dismissal time.
• School canteens should serve food and drinks which are low in saturated
fats, sugar, salt, and food dyes. More fruit juices, vegetables should be on the
menu.
• There should be no soft drinks, no energy drinks or sport
School Clinic
• A full- time school doctor runs the school clinic. Her work focuses on
preventive, curative and educative matters.
• A general hygiene checkup will be conducted at the beginning of every
week .
• The preventive aspect involves keeping and updating a file for each
student. Parents are required to fill a health status update each academic year.

• The curative aspect involves taking care of illness and accidents: sick
students are reported to the clinic for treatment.
The doctor checks the files for allergies etc.
• If the student is sick and needs further treatment, the parents are
contacted immediately for further measures.
• In case of a minor accident, the parents are notified either on the phone
and or by a memo describing what happened and the measures taken.
• Major accidents that require hospitalizations are dealt with depending on
the seriousness of the situation. Parents are notified at once and asked to
accompany their child to the hospital for treatment,
• GGIS personnel has the responsibility to take the student to the hospital
and the parents are asked to meet them there.
• Besides the preventive and curative measures, the clinic offers an educative
aspect. The doctor is involved in class visits, assemblies on hygiene, health issues
etc. And on disseminating information on current health practices.
• Child should stay at home if he/she has:
• A fever or has had one during the previous 24-hour period.
• A heavy nasal discharge.
• A constant cough.
• Symptoms of a possible infectious disease which include sniffles, eyes
redness, sore throat, headache, abdominal pain and fever.
• The doctor keeps a daily record on all matters.

Cases that clinic needs special care A- Head Lice
If a student is having lice, he/she needs to stay at home till the treatment
is completed. The school doctor will conduct a head check before students can be
permitted back into class, If the child has siblings in another class, the other class
has to be checked in addition to the student’s class
B. Immunizations (for Primary School Students)
Health and immunization records are required and maintained for every student.
Parents are urged to notify the school health clinic of any health problem that
occurs during the school year.
The Ministry of Health sometimes visits the school for students’ immunization . In
such cases , parents are asked to send their approval of their child’s
vaccination .
C. Allergies
Parents should notify the school clinic ,if the student has allergy to any medicine
or food or if he is asthmatic.
D. Medication
• No medication should be administered without expressed written parental
permission.
• If your child has to bring medication to school, the following steps need to
be followed:
1-All medication must be brought to and kept in the health clinic by parents and
not via students.
2-The medication must be clearly identified with the student’s, name, class, ,
and the dose of the drug.

Transportation The school provides transportation. It provides buses to different directions. The
buses are big enough, conformable and the drivers are under the school
supervision. The drivers have a list of the school rules and there is supervisor who
is responsible to schedule the time among the buses with the parents.
GGIS makes every effort to ensure students safety while being transported on a
school bus. Use of the school bus service is defined as a privilege, and the school
reserves the right to suspend or revoke at any time a student who fails to abide
by the stated rules of conduct.
A. School Transportation Discipline Policy:
In an attempt to maintain discipline and safety inside the school bus, please read
and discuss with your child transportation rules prior to starting of school.
• Students are expected to conduct themselves in a proper manner and
respect all road safety rules all around their trip to between the school and their
homes.
• Each parent has to provide the school administration and the driver with
their updated mobile number .
• The driver will dial a number five minutes before the arrival ,and wait at the
house for a period of two minutes. In case of delay, the driver will return the child
back to the school and the parent has to come to school to receive the child.
• The guardian has to pay transportation fees at the beginning of each
semester without delay. In case of late payment, the service will stop immediately
after two weeks.
• In the event of any complaint, whether from the driver or assistant, the
parent should contact the school administration and not the address the driver.
• The parent has to notify the school administration and the driver in case if a
student is absent or in case the parent desires to deliver or receive the student to
or from school himself.
• The assistant is not responsible for delivering the students to and from the
door of the house, the parent has to receive the student directly from the bus.

• The driver does not have to wait for the student in the case the parents are
not responding to the call or when the parents’ mobile is closed.
• In case of repeated complaints from the behavior of the student, the school
administration will stop providing delivery service to the student.
• The itinerary of the bus is planned by the school administration.
• Students failing to follow the above rules will be subject to transportation
disciplinary procedures.
B. Disciplinary procedures:
When, in the opinion of the driver or assistant, a serious rule violation occurs, or
when the driver's efforts to deal with less severe violations are unsuccessful, a
school bus incident report will be initiated. The intent is to maintain good order
and a safe environment for students riding buses as well as to notify parents of
the misconduct of their children.
The following are standard actions that will generally be applied uniformly in
response to documented incidents.
1st offence Verbal warning and the parents will be contacted.
2nd offence Written warning.
3rd offence Suspension of bus privileges for five school days.
4th offence Suspension of bus privileges for ten school days.
5th offence Termination of the student's right to use the school bus for the rest of the
year and no fees will be refunded.

And no fees will be refunded. If a student is expelled from the school bus, the student will no longer be allowed
to use this service for the rest of the year or the coming school year.
Bus fees are not refundable if a student is suspended or expelled.
Counseling services
GGIS social workers are dedicated to providing a social and emotional guidance
and counseling services to our students and their families. Our goal is to assist in
the development of the child so that our students can effectively meet the
academic, social and emotional challenges that they are faced with every day.
The counseling process may include:
• Formal and informal observations
• Formal and informal interviews with students, parents and teachers
• Child study team meetings.
• Educational testing at GGIS
• Recommendation and referral for outside testing
Students may be referred to the social worker by teachers, parents,
administration and other school personnel, or they may come to see the social
worker on their own. Upon referral, the social worker will assess the needs of the
student and take whatever action is necessary. Social workers may organize and
facilitate child study team meetings and will coordinate follow-up on
any recommended action.
The social worker may contact parents to request their involvement in the
process and/or inform them of the action being taken to meet their child’s needs.
If the need for further testing is determined, a recommendation will be discussed
with parents and the social worker will prepare the necessary documentation for
referral.

The counseling experience is intended to be a positive one. Helping students to
establish good behavior patterns is an important objective of our school. Teachers
and administrators will handle the initial stages of the discipline process. Social
workers may intervene when necessary with a focus on promoting acceptable
behavior.
With your support, social workers at GGIS will meet the academic, social and
emotional needs of our students while helping to build strong bonds of respect,
cooperation and communication between teachers, administrators, students and
parents.
Lost and found Items
Lost and found boxes are located in various places in the school. Expensive or
fragile items (eye glasses, money, watches, purses, etc.) are held in the office of
the head of school.
After two months, items will be discarded and the money given to charity.
Students who lose something of value should report it immediately to their head
of school.
In order to keep lost items to a minimum, please make sure that all your child’s
belongings are clearly labeled with your child’s name and class.
Kindly do not call the school and ask for full scale hunt to be carried out if your
child has lost something. We cannot do this! However, all labeled items will be
returned to your child when found.

School Activities Co-curricular Activities
Co-curricular activities include, but are not limited to, the following activities:
Open Day & School Camps :
GGIS planned to have several days of open day with different activities beside
a program of subject camps which is conducted monthly for subject activities
enrichment.
School Trips
The school program includes 2 trips for the students. Parents will receive a trip
permission slip to sign before their child is allowed to leave school with the class.
Verbal permission is not accepted.
Please note that if a student does not return the signed permission slip to go
along on a trip, prior to the trip day, the student will remain at school under the
supervision of another teacher. If a parent does not wish to send his/her child on
a trip, then the child should remain at home on the day of the trip.
Traits of Character Program
GGIS encourages students to develop positive character traits. Each week a
separate trait will be addressed by the entire student body and staff. The traits of
characters should be emphasized to all students. It always begins with “i am a
good Muslim” to emphasis the student Islamic identity as reflection from our
mission statement

Parent/Community Relations Correspondence
Letters, circulars, and sms are our means of communication with parents. We
expect parents to read the contents carefully and follow up promptly on any
requirements. Letters and circulars are usually sent with the students.
Home-school diary system serve as a main tool for daily parent/teacher
correspondence. Kindly check these daily.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
The school schedules four parent-teacher conferences every academic year.
However, teachers are always happy to meet with parents to discuss the progress
of their children provided that they make an appointment with the desired
teacher in advance. Please contact the appropriate administrative office to
arrange for a suitable appointment.
Parent contact information
It is important that the school has the correct parent contact information. At the
beginning of each academic year the school sends a “student information sheet”
to be filled in by the parents to update any information for current students or to
add information for new ones. If any of the contact information changes during
the academic year, parents have to inform the concerned head of school in
writing.
Parental Involvement
Open communication between home and school – between parents and teachers
is essential to the holistic development of every student. We understand that you
lead busy lives. However, we encourage you to be as active as possible in the life
of your child at school. That’s why we have a teachers' office hour form that
allows parents to communicate with all teachers according to their free periods.
