Idaho P.E.O. Chapter House Newsletter
DECEMBER 2019
Our hard-working teams constructed and sold over 300 Christmas
Mailbox Toppers! Many lovely compliments were received and our
volunteers had such fun working together. Preliminary estimates of
the net proceeds are $5,270 going towards our upstairs electrical
update in the Dorman House. We’re so grateful for the support of 18
of our local chapters plus 3 groups! Thanks, sisters and friends!

A SUCCESS!
Tis the SeasonEveryone is getting busier
and busier, so it must be that
time of year! But we aren’t
too busy to wish everyone
a holiday season filled with
blessings.
On behalf of the Idaho PEO
Chapter House Board of
Trustees and the Chapter
House residents, a very big
Merry Christmas and Happy
New Year to all. Wishing
everyone joy-filled family
gatherings, and best of
health. See you all next year!!

We welcome our newest Chapter House Board member, Carolyn Miller, Chapter CJ, Eagle.
Carolyn has worked in the State Controllers Office for
the last 27 years. She is married to Kevan and they have
two children: Emma Marie, who recently graduated
from Oregon State University in Environmental Science,
and Juston, an avid Scout and student at Meridian High
School.
In her “spare” time Carolyn likes to sew, cook, and
travel. To celebrate 25 years of marriage, Carolyn and
Kevan, plus their two children, traveled to Europe -
taking backpacks and trains through Italy, Switzerland,
and Germany. Carolyn had been an exchange student;
when she and her crew were in Germany, they stayed
with her host family for a couple days! (A special
highlight of their journey, I’m thinking.)
We are delighted to have Carolyn on the Chapter House
Board team!

The annual Thanksgiving celebration
was held at the Chapter House on
Sunday, November 24, 2019 with
all the traditional fare, lovingly
prepared by our long-time cook,
Gene “Kapi” Kaplan.
Special to the meal this year, aside
from the table filled with esteemed
guests, were exquisite pumpkin
pies crafted by our welcomed
new addition to the kitchen team,
Barbara Moody.

Per Capita DonationsPer Capital. . . .An adverb or adjective meaning for each person; in relation to people taken individually.
It’s of Latin origin and came about in the late 17th century and literally means ‘by head’. So, a really BIG
THANK YOU to everyone in PEO for their annual ‘by head’ contribution which is an important part of
keeping the Idaho PEO Chapter House running smoothly.
Stop by and see where your hard earned dollars are going. Better yet, come for lunch and a tour. Just
let house manager Jane know in advance so we can make proper preparations.
Dust, vacuum, clean the toilets, blow off the front
porch, set up chairs and tables, make coffee and
tea, and perhaps be ready for 15-35 people in your
home for your PEO meeting. Then, take the table
and chairs down, and put the house back in order.
WAIT, there is an alternative for those of us that
prefer to skip the stress and drudgery but want to
host their local chapter as hostess. Let the Chapter
House do the work!
Chairs and tables will be set up, it’s a wonderful
big living room, and the Chapter House can even
provide refreshments if you would like. You simply
make arrangements in advance. Plenty of parking
and we will even leave the lights on for ya!
