Criteria for Admission
The students are selected through a nationwide entrance test.
The last date for receiving the completed applications for admissions forthe July session is January 21, 2013.
Candidates who may be appearing for the qualifying degreeexamination and expecting their results and certificates before31.7.2013 may also apply for admission.
University provides a weightage of up to two marks in the entranceexaminations for distinction in sports/cultural activities.
The Entrance Examinations of all 5-year Integrated P.G.courses and P.G.humanities courses will consist of only two hours written test of 100 marks.(except M.Sc. Optometry and Vision Sciences,M.A communication and journalism)
Distance P.G. DIPLOMA-The last date for the submission of the filled inapplications is 31.01.2013
Interviews for candidates short-listed for admission to M.Phil, M.Tech, and Ph.D.on the basis of written test and those exempted from written test (on the basisof UGC/CSIR JRF, RGNF/MANF.
The duration of the written test for all courses will be two hours.
There will be negative marking of 0.33 mark for every wrong answer.
There are 33 Examination centers for entrance test all over India.

M.Tech CS/AI/IT: Admission is based on only the GATE percentile scores in Computer Science and Information Technology. (No written test or interview will be conducted)
M.Tech. IC Technology: Short listing of candidates for interview is based on the GATE scores in the order of merit, in one of the following subjects: (1) Electronics and Communication Engineering (2) Instrumentation Engineering (3) Physics.
M.Tech. Computational Techniques: Short listing of candidates for interview is based on the GATE scores in the order of merit in Physics or being qualified in UGC-CSIR NET for JRF.

Reservation of seats for OBC candidates
1- In accordance with the policy of the Govt. of India and the guidelinesof the UGC, 27% of the seats in each course are reserved for OBC (non-creamy layer category) candidates.
2-There is no relaxation in minimum qualifications for admission andno concession in the entrance examination fee for OBCs.
3-There is a concession in the cut off marks in the entranceexamination (both written and interview put together) which is 10%lower than the cut off prescribed for admission for General categorycandidates in any course.
4-Candidates claiming reservation under this category must enclosean attested copy of the OBC (non-creamy layer) certificate issued by acompetent authority without which their claim will not be consideredunder OBC category.
Financial Support for students
1- M.Phil. students will be paid fellowship @ Rs. 3,000/- p.m. for one year only (fundedby UGC).
2- Ph.D. Scholars will be paid fellowship @ Rs. 5000/- p.m. for a period of 3 years,extendable by one more year in exceptional cases with specific & tangible justificationfrom the Supervisor/Doctoral committee (funded by UGC).
3- This university provides Rs.1000.p.m.for post graduate students.
Fellowships for research studies
1-UGC Fellowships-for JRF students pursuing Mphil or PhD will get Rs. 16,000/-p.m. for the first two years and Rs.18,000/- p.m. for the subsequent years.
2-Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowships sponsored for SC/ST candidates to pursueM.Phil and Ph.D. Degrees:
3-Maulana Azad National Fellowship for minority students.funded by Ministry of Minority Affairs to pursue M.Phil. and Ph.D. Degrees : The value of JRF is Rs. 16,000/- p.m. for the first two years and the value of SRF is Rs. 18,000/-p.m. for the subsequent years.
4-CSIR Fellowships: The CSIR JRFs pursuing research are paid a fellowship of Rs.16,000/ p.m. for a period of two years which may be increased to Rs.18,000/ p.m. for the subsequent years.
5-Fellowships from other sources:Agencies and other Organizations such as the UGC, CSIR, DST, DAE, ICMR, ICSSR, NBHM, etc.
