The condensing boiler: efficiency also through use of stainless-steel heat ex-changersCondensing boiler technology provides one of the most efficient types of heat generation. The reason: This heating technology not only recovers heat from burning oil and gas. It also uses the residual heat in the flue gas for heating – heat that is normally lost in the chimney when using traditional boilers.
With condensing boilers from Viessmann, the stainless steel Inox-Radial heat exchangers ensure that the flue gases cool down so much before being discharged to the chimney that the water vapour contained in it can be specifically condensed, and the released heat is additionally transferred to the heating system. Condensing boilers therefore achieve a standard degree of utilization of up to 98 percent and are especially energy-saving in operation.

The heat pump: efficiency by using free ambient heatFree ambient heat is used by the heat pump extremely efficiently, so it can easily cover the basic load when the system is running. The outdoor unit thereby withdraws the heat contained in the air and brings it to a flow temperature of 55 °C by the heat pump process. And: heat pumps from Viessmann are especially silent and low in vibration, the compressor unit is low-maintenance and designed for reliable operation and a long service life.

Which energy source is the cheapest?That is easily controlled – completely automatically
The Vitocaldens 222-F and Vitolacaldens 222-F hybrid compact appliances and the split air/water Vitocal 250-S heat pump are equipped with the Vitotronic 200 control. The intelligent Hybrid Pro Control energy manager is already integrated.
Normally, heating systems are controlled based either on the room or the outside temperature. The intelligent Hybrid Pro Control energy manager goes beyond this and controls the system with variable settings. The operator can define these individually and change them at any time:

Hybrid Pro Control: the right energy mix for efficient operationFor instance, thanks to Hybrid Pro Control, the control detects when the heat pump is able to cover the entire heat requirement. If this is exceeded, then it requires support from the fuel value module. Hybrid Pro Control automatically determines this time and reacts accordingly: after the current energy costs have been entered for electricity, gas or oil, it calculates which energy source can be currently used most efficiently. Hybrid Pro Control always has an overview of the complete system. The integrated energy manager automatically determines the most efficient operating mode (economy or ecology and comfort).

The right unit for everyone: hybrid appliances for gas and oil Hybrid compact appliances from Viessmann are available for both oil and gas: the Vitocaldens 222-F for gas and the Vitolacaldens 222-F for oil. The heat from both appliances is ensured by a powerful condensing boiler and a heat pump. Both systems alternate with each other or supplement each other. Your heating thereby decides automatically which system is more economical or eco-friendly for heating, according to the currently-entered energy prices. Depending on the operating method you have previously set.
No wish left unfulfilled: DHW convenience with integrated loading cylinder The DHW loading cylinder with 130-litre volume for gas or 100-litre for oil always provides sufficient hot water – even when the demand is high. In the ideal case, the hot water is generated cost-efficiently with the heat pump.

Supplementing a heating system for gas or oil with a heating system is ideal. Not just to be future-safe, but also to be environmentally friendly. On the one hand, you therefore use free ambient heat. On the other hand, the heating system can be operated so that the lowest heating costs are always achieved when there are fluctuating energy prices.
Choose economy – and future-safety Heating systems with an already existing oil or gas condensing boiler up to an output of 30 kW can be retrofitted with Vitocal 250-S. The Hybrid Pro Control energy manager controls the efficiency of the complete system. Heat and cool with one systemIf the heat pump does the heating, the out-door unit withdraws the heat contained in the air and brings it to a flow temperature of 55 °C by the heat pump process. But the heat pump can do a lot more. For a high level of living comfort on a hot summer’s day, operation of the heat pump can be reversed. Living areas can then be kept comfortable cool. Inverter-controlled compressors and an electronic expansion valve in the refrigeration circuit also ensure a high level of efficiency here.
Viessmann also provides the right system for retrofitting of existing condensing boilers using free ambient heat: split air/water heat pump Vitocal 250-S for combination with a wall-mounted or freestanding condensing boiler.

The split air/water heat pumpVitocal 250-S supplements already existing freestanding or wall-mounted oil or gas condensing boilers up to 30 kW. Depending on its size, the heat pump itself already outputs up to 11.3 kW. It therefore economically provides the greatest part of the annual heating load – in a detached house, up to 80 percent of the energy required for heating and hot water can therefore already be covered by free ambient heat and electricity.
Hybrid Pro Control: the right energy mix ensures the highest level of efficiency The Vitotronic 200 control with the Hybrid Pro Control energy manager controls both the heat pump and the condensing boiler. To do this, first select the operating mode with the lowest operating costs or the lowest CO2 emissions. Depending on the mode you select, the prices entered for oil or gas and electricity, or the respective primary energy factor, are used. According to the output requirements, Hybrid Pro Control optimally adjusts the Vitocal 250-S and the existing heat generators and automatically controls the energy mix.
Easily and quickly retrofittedWith a width of just 450 mm, the compact indoor unit can even be installed in tight spaces or is simply fixed to the wall. Lateral clearance is not required – all components required for maintenance are accessible from the front. The outdoor unit is connected via the refrigerant lines to the indoor unit.
Control conveniently with an app The complete system can be controlled very conveniently via the Internet – the app for this is available for free for smart phones and tablets.

Even more efficient by consumption of self-produced electricity Vitocal 250-S is standard-designed for use of self-produced electricity from a photovoltaic system. The projected power curve of the photovoltaic system and the heat requirement are automatically taken into consideration. If an electricity storage system is then also integrated into the system, the electricity supply from the grid is reduced to a minimum – that makes it independent of increasing electricity prices.
