OBJECTIVES
The importance of Germany's role• The world looks at Germany's "Energiewende" with huge
interest.
• If Germany is on a path to reaching its "Energiewende" goals while not hurting the economy: Impact on other countries' low-carbon efforts can be huge, with positive effects on the global climate talks.
• Problems with rising emissions from coal and gap (28-32%) to reach 40% GHG target in Germany need to be solved
• EU climate and clean energy leadership of crucial importance for the global climate agreement
• Due to new dynamics in other parts of the world EU at risk of losing technological leadership and political climate leadership to China/US.

Promote individual steps – the big 5:
Five simple personal actions as first steps:
1. buy renewable electricity 2. use sustainable mobility, avoid or
compensate flying3. consumption and nutrition: buy
sustainable products, consume critically, eat less meat and milk products
4. living: decrease room temperature, save electricity and hot water
5. sustainable investment: inquire about "green" investment of all financial products
