Homework – Week Three

Read John 21:15-19 in the Key Word Study Bible

Look up the word “Love” in the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance as well as the Key Word study Bible to determine the Original Greek Word.

Look at the Handouts for instructions on how to look up a word in the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance and The Key Word Study Bible.

Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance will only show one of the types of “love” – therefore, Look at the Key Word Study Bible for the other type of “love”.

Look up the Strong’s numbers for the word “Love” in the Vines Complete Expository dictionary to see the Greek meaning of these words

Answer questions on the attached sheet.

To find the original Hebrew or Greek word using the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance:

Look up an English word in the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance You will see verses under each word Find the verse with the word you are looking at Notice the “Numbers” on the right hand side of the verse

The “number” refers to the Hebrew/Greek numbering system

Look this number up in the Strong’s Dictionary and it will give you the original Hebrew / Greek word and it’s meaning

To find the original Hebrew or Greek word using the Vine’s Complete

Expository Dictionary:

Look up an English word in the Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary

‒ They are listed alphabetically - Old Testament in the front and then The New Testament

Under each word you will see the Hebrew/Greek word with the Strong’s number next to it.

There can be several Hebrew/Greek words for the same English word; therefore, look for the Strong’s number which refers to the word you are looking up.

‒ You will see a definition given for that word keeping it in context of the verse.

1. Look up the word “love” in vs. 15 in the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance and the Key Word Study Bible and write in the Strong’s number for each word. “…Simon, son of John, do you love _____ Me more than these? He said to Him, Yes, Lord; You know that I

love ______ you. He said to him, Tend My lambs.”2. Look up the word “love” in vs. 16 in the Strong’s Exhaustive

Concordance and the Key Word Study Bible and write in the Strong’s number for each word. “He said to him again a second time, Simon, son of John, do you love _____ Me? He said to Him, Yes, Lord; You know that I love ______ you. He said to him, Shepherd My sheep.”

3. Look up the word “love” in vs. 17 in the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance and the Key Word Study Bible and write in the Strong’s number for each word. “He said to him the third time, Simon, son of John, do you love _____ Me? Peter was grieved because He said to him “the third time, Do you love _______ Me? And he said to Him, Lord; You know all things; You know that I love ______ you. Jesus said to him, Tend My sheep.”

4. In the Strong’s Dictionary, look up the numbers and write in the Greek word: #25 ______________ #5368_________________

5. To look up the meanings of these Greek words, take the Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary and look up each word and write in the meaning:
