How to download library eBooks to your eReader
You can borrow eBooks from your library and transfer them to your eReader (Kobo, Nook, Sony; Kindle is not supported) using the free Adobe Digital Editions software on your Windows or Mac computer.
Before you can get started you must have:
1. A library card with a password (ask at the issues desk) 2. An internet connection 3. Setup your eReader on your home PC or laptop by installing the software that
came with it 4. Created an account with the manufacturer and registered your device.
Step 1
Open the internet and go to www.epukapuka.com or Google search: epukapuka and click the first link that pops up in the search results.
Step 2
Scroll to the bottom of the page then click on applications
Click on Adobe Digital Editions
Step 3
Click on Download.
Choose the correct version for your computer (Windows or Mac). Click on the
download link
Install Adobe Digital Editions on your computer.
Step 4
Adobe Digital Editions will start once the installation has completed. Click on Help then Authorize computer
If you already have an Adobe ID type in your ID and Password then click Authorise
If you don’t have one, click Create an Adobe ID, then fill in the form to create an Adobe ID
Once that’s done, go back to Adobe Digital Editions and enter your ID and password then click Authorise
Close Adobe Digital Editions
Step 5
Turn on your eReader and plug the small end of USB cable it came with into the bottom of your eReader
Plug the other end of the cable into a spare USB port on your computer
On your eReader screen - click on connect, then on your computer screen: re-open Adobe Digital Editions.Your eReader should now be showing on the left side of the Adobe Digital Editions screen. Leave Adobe Digital Editions open

Open the internet and Google search: Napier Libraries (or go to http://www.napierlibrary.co.nz/)
Click on the eCatalogue link to go to the website

Read about the three different eBook platforms available. They will all work with Adobe Digital Editions.
EPukaPuka tends to have the most fiction books (at the moment); Wheelers is a growing collection of our newest eBooks; and Ebsco is mainly non-fiction.
In this example we will use ePukaPuka, but all three are well worth looking at!
So…click on the link to ePukaPuka
Step 8
Once the Epukapuka webpage loads, click on Sign in
Click the drop down arrow and choose your Library (Napier Library)
Step 9
Type in your Library card number (found on front of library card under the bar code)
Then type in your password and click sign in
Step 10
Choose a category eg: eBook Fiction – All Fiction, or you can use the Search box
Step 11
To see only available titles click - Available now
Choose a title and click on Borrow
Step 12
Go to dropdown box, select EPUB eBook
Click confirm & download.
Step 13
Go back to Adobe Digital Editions Library, left click and hold on the downloaded book then drag it across to the eReader and let go to copy the title onto your device
Step 14
Repeat steps 9 to 12 to add more books to the device. Unplug the USB cable from your eReader and computer then enjoy reading your titles.
