The Financial Executives International - Houston Chapter (FEI) honors twelve accounting or finance students attending accredited colleges and universities in Southeast Texas annually with a scholarship award and an Academic Honors Program. The Academic Honors Day (AHD) is held each February and is hosted by a local Houston business organization in conjunction with FEI.
By linking the award of financial support to students with exposure to real world experiences as part of the FEI’s Academic Honors Program, we can better personalize the educational experience. Our focus is on ethical business conduct and the pursuit of accounting and finance as outstanding career choices.
During the Academic Honors Day program the students experience the opportunity to interact with both senior management and a short tenure employee panel, comprised of recent hires in both industry and the public accounting profession, to broaden their experience.
A Special Thank You to Daikin Industries, Ltd. for hosting this year’s Academic Honors Day Program for the students and distinguished guests.
Daikin Industries, Ltd. is the world’s largest manufacturer of indoor heating and cooling systems and refrigerants for energy-efficient products serving residential, commercial and industrial customers across the world. The Daikin Texas Technology Park is Daikin Industries’ largest investment in manufacturing to date creating the third largest manufacturing facility in the United States. Daikin’s investment here at DTTP is transforming the HVAC industry and generating positive job growth in the United States, with over 4,000 employees to date. The campus sits on just under 500 acres and the facility encompasses over 4.3 million square feet. This includes multiple fabrication departments, 27 assembly lines, over 250 dock doors for the distribution center, 54 different lab areas, three state of the art product showrooms as well as office space for over 800 employees that support the daily business requirements.
Since 1970, the FEI Houston Scholarship Foundation organization has awarded over $600,000 in scholarships through its Academic Honors Program, funded primarily by The FEI Houston Chapter, voluntary contributions and Corporate Sponsors. Thank you to all who have been involved and donated over this extended period.
The mission of the FEI Houston Scholarship Foundation is to protect and strengthen the financial viability of the Houston FEI Academic Honors Program that provides student opportunities for recruiting, mentoring and business exposure and awards non-discriminatory, need-based scholarships to high caliber accounting and finance students attending accredited Southeast Texas area universities who can be future financial leaders.
