As the weather is turning colder some of us are
thinking about booking holidays to cheer us up. When
you are booking, please remember that we are in
school this year until Friday 20th December 2019 and
children return back on Tuesday 7th January 2020
Holidays in term time will not be authorised unless
there are exceptional circumstances. You can be fined
for taking your child on holiday without the school's
authorisation.
Christmas Foodbank Hampers
Christmas is fast approaching and here in Nursery we are all
getting excited! We are also thinking about the happiness of
other families by making a Christmas hamper for Norwood
Foodbank. Perhaps you could help too! Children can take
items to their own class Hamper over the next couple of
weeks. This Year the foodbank has asked that we focus on
just 5 specific items. This way they can ensure that, when
combined with the contributions of other schools and
organisations, there is enough of everything.
Tinned pies and corned Beef, Packets of Instant Mash
potato, Tinned Potatoes, UHT full fat milk, Toilet rolls

What to do if… you are
concerned about something happening online and you don’t know what to do.
Year 6 had a fabulous time on Thursday during Ancient Egyptian Day. Home learning the previous
weekend was to design and make your own costume and there were some very artistic creations. During
the day, Year 6 children learned many interesting facts about life in Ancient Egypt and got to create and
play a traditional board game, bake and eat flat bread and decorate and design their own sarcophagus
and mummy. Their topic learning this term has also been supported by a trip to the British Museum and
Year 6 pupils are learning that everything we know about this ancient civilisation is based on the objects
and buildings archeologists have examined and the theories historians have developed.
CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY FRIDAY 13th DECEMBER! Remember to come to school in your Christmas Jumpers in aid of Save the Children. Please give £1 or whatever amount you can to your child's teacher. POP-UP PANTO The PTA are delighted to confirm that we will once again be funding a festive panto performance of "Beauty & The Beast" for Years 3,4,5 and 6 on Friday 13th December. HITHERFIELD CHRISTMAS FAIR!! Please save the date and come along to the Christmas Fair on December 13th!! Thank-you very much to everyone who has already signed up to help beforehand and on the day. If you can spare some time we still need some more volunteers so please use the online volunteering site Patchwork, click on the link and browse the jobs and sign up!! https://patchworkit.com/28942/HitherfieldXmas2019 The raffle ticket operation is in full swing with fantastic sales people around school and the trim trail offering chances to win some fabulous prizes. Raffle tickets are priced at £1 per ticket.
Remember to start putting aside suitable prizes for the Tombola - brand new gifts, toiletries, food items, bottles of booze, chocolates etc. We will collect the week of the Fair. Alex (Reception TA) is running a second hand toy stall so if you have any preloved toys in good condition that you might want to gift to another child please bring those in too. GOODY BAGS The ever popular goody bags will be given out to your children this week. Please fill them with little toys, sweets, lollies, puzzles etc. and hand them to the office in the next couple of weeks. In response to your feedback the PTA have now sourced COMPOSTABLE goody bags so if you choose not to fill them please either return them to the office or throw them in your FOOD bin and not your RECYCLE bin.
Santa's Grotto tickets will be on sale in the week of the fair so please keep an eye out
for those.
Spare goody bags are available at the office!
Please bring your cake and biscuit donations to the office on the morning of the Fair.

A talented shoemaker works tirelessly to support his shoemaking business, but the village people
would much rather get shoes from the big shops in town. With only one small piece of felt left, he
goes to bed with a sigh. But when he wakes up the next morning, the felt has disappeared, and in its
place is the most wonderful pair of shoes. But who could have made them? Based on the classic
Grimms' fairy tale, The Elves and the Shoemaker is magically retold by Sandal Sticks Theatre using
storytelling, song and puppetry for families this Christmas.
