APPLICATION
Honeywell H4000 Woltman bulk water meters are used for
volume measurement of cold water in drinking water
networks. The versatile H4000 is ideally suited for
applications such as production, distribution, conservation
and commercial billing. It features a mechanical roller
counter and can be equipped with clip-on modules for
remote readout applications. Clip-on modules are available
for wired M-Bus and pulse output. The clip-on modules are
retrofittable.

CONSTRUCTION
METHOD OF OPERATION
Counter
The measuring mechanism contains a six-digit roller
counter for values of whole cubic metres (m³) and dials for
tenth and hundredth parts of m³. The displayed value is the
cumulative (total) flow through the meter. It is flanged to the
flow sensor housing and can be removed for maintenance or
replacement without affecting the approval.
Flow Sensor
The Woltman technology of the flow sensor combines high
measuring accuracy with long term stability and the
capability of measuring high volumes at low pressure drop.
The turbine is connected to the counter by a shaft and a
magnetic coupling.
TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE
Keep parts in their original packaging and unpack them
shortly before use.
The H4000 is a precision measuring instrument and must
be treated accordingly. The following parameters apply
during transportation and storage:
• Units should only be transported in their original
packaging
• Appropriate lifting gear must be used to lift the H4000
where applicable
• Units should be handled carefully right way up and must
not be dropped
• Units should be stored in a clean, dry environment

INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
Setup requirements
• Calming legs of straight pipe with a minimum length of
3 x DN are required upstream of the meter for sizes up
to DN200 and 5x DN for sizes above DN200
• All sizes may be installed in either horizontal or vertical
position
• The meter must be installed with the counter facing up
or sideways. It must not be installed with the counter
facing downwards
• Avoid installation at highest point of system as air may
be trapped in the meter
• During measurement the meter must be completely
filled with water
Remote Readout
H4000 water meters can be fitted with clip - on modules for
remote readout applications. The clip - on modules are
retrofittable and are attached by means of a standardised
design which is identical for all sizes DN50 - 300. Mounting
of modules does not affect approval to the meter.

PR7 Pulse Out Module
The PR7 pulse out module has two pulse outputs, each with
an optional flag over an additional wire:
• Primary pulse output: continuous pulse with optional
direction flag
• Secondary pulse output: compensated pulse with
optional compensation flag
The value for both channels is marked on the module, e.g.
K1:10. The resulting pulse value depends on the meter size:
• For DN50 to 125: multiply the K value by 1
• For DN150 to 300: multiply the K value by 10
Note: Standard remote readout applications, for example pulse counting by a heat meter, typically use the secondary channel without any further flag.
