EMC Storage Management Solution
Simplify EMC Symmetrix ManagementMainframes continue to support the world’s most mission-critical applications. Many organizations
using mainframes have very large and complex information management environments that span
multiple storage units across geographic sites. Storage administrators require a solution that simpli-
fies management, is easy to use, and reduces the amount of effort to plan, provision, and monitor
storage resources.
The EMC® Storage Management Solution consists of a suite of products that meet the demands of
mainframe environments. For configuration, management, and monitoring of the EMC Symmetrix®
storage arrays, EMC provides a GUI-based interface in addition to the well-known Interactive System
Productivity Facility (ISPF) interface.
The EMC Storage and Performance Management Solution consists of the following products:
EMC Symmetrix Management Console (SMC)EMC Symmetrix Management Console (SMC) is an intuitive, browser-based graphical interface for
managing Symmetrix systems. It is hosted on a small server and is accessed via a web browser.
Because of its lightweight architecture, SMC is an ideal graphical complement to the CLI (command-line
interface) when you need to perform device management of a Symmetrix system. The SMC provides
the following functionality:

EMC z/OS Storage Manager (EzSM)EMC z/OS Storage Manager simplifies storage-related resource management. It is a mainframe services
management tool that monitors and reports on Symmetrix mainframe storage from the z/OS operating
system perspective. EzSM aids in efficiently planning storage resources by utilizing the mainframe’s
Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF) interface. EzSM provides the following functionality to
the mainframe storage administrator:
