SACRED HEART WADSWORTH, OH
Today we celebrate Mother’s Day. It is a very special time for us to honor all our mothers and, most of all, our Blessed Mother. Our mothers give so much of themselves to us. They care for us, they nurture us physically and spiritually, they guide us through life, they watch over and protect us, they care for us when we are sick, they comfort us when we are sick or hurt, and they rejoice with us in our accomplishments. Mothers are
always there for us just as our Blessed Mother is always there for us in good times and bad.
Today, let us thank almighty God for the gift of our mothers: mothers, stepmothers, godmothers, grandmothers, mothers-in-law, and those who are like mothers to us. May God truly bless them with His love and always help them to be instruments of His love in our lives. We also pray for our mothers who have died, that God may care for them and guide them safely home to the Kingdom of Heaven where they may enjoy forever the light and love of God’s life.
Truly, our mothers on earth are a source of care and comfort. When we need help in our lives, so often we turn to our mothers. Sometimes we ask them to do things for us themselves and sometimes we ask them to intercede for us with our fathers or others whose help we need. We also do the same thing with our Blessed Mother. We pray that she will intercede for us with God, our Father, so that He will help us in doing some important or special task.
On Saturday, May 13, we celebrated our First Holy Communion Mass. This is a very special time for these children as they take another step toward being fully initiated members of the Church. It is a time of grace for our parish community as we welcome these children to the table of the Lord and share with them the most precious gift our Lord has given us, the gift of Himself. Please pray for these children that they may always know the presence of Jesus in their lives and that they will always strive to become more and more like Him as they receive His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the Holy Eucharist.
I am very grateful to all who help to prepare these children for this great sacrament: Fr. Pat, Deacon Roger, Deacon Rich, their parents, catechists: Sue Bott, Lisa Clark, Kylene Ferguson, Ginny Gegick, our DRE Annette Bernard, Eric Pandrea, Regina Farrell and the children for the beautiful music, and our altar servers. May God bless you always for your generosity in sharing your faith with these children.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR AND SAVE THE DATES. The Feast of the Sacred Heart will be on Friday, June 23 this year. To celebrate our patronal feast we are planning two events. The first will be a Mass in honor of the Sacred Heart at 5:30 PM on Friday, June 23, followed by the parish picnic in our new parish picnic pavilion next to the warehouse.
I would very much like to encourage everyone to try to be a part of these events in our parish as we celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart. This is such a great opportunity for us to gather as a faith community and celebrate our Catholic Faith.
On April 2, 2017, Sacred Heart alumni Katie Race, daughter of Keith and Christine, and Michael Davies, son of Jim and Diana, were inducted into the National Honor Society at Archbishop Hoban High School. Michael and Katie are both juniors at Hoban. Congratulations, Michael and Katie, for this great accomplishment. It is a proud moment for you and your families as well as our Sacred Heart community.
For the third quarter grading period, Michael Davies was selected by the Academic Review Board to be an Academic Knight. Academic Knights are chosen based on excellence in scholarship as well as leadership, service to the Hoban family, service to the community, Christian values and good character. Jaclyn Turk, daughter of Joe and Loretta was selected as a Chivalrous Knight based on industriousness in the classroom, outstanding effort, involvement in student activities, Christian values, and a polite, positive and helpful attitude toward others. Congratulations to Michael and Jaclyn for their achievements. We are very proud of you and wish you all the best in the future. I hope that all three of you will continue to shine as you grow in the gifts that God has given you.
GOLF OUTING TO BENEFIT SACRED HEART PARISH. We are going to have a golf outing for Sacred Heart on Monday, August 28, beginning at 1:00 PM at Rawiga Golf Course. There will be a “shotgun start” with a boxed lunch and a steak dinner at the end. More information later, so save the date.

SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM In order to understand and
better appreciate this special sacrament, parents must attend a
Pre-Baptismal class. Sacred Heart
offers this instruction on the first
Sunday in September, December,
March, and June, at 1:00 p.m. in the
Conry Room. Registration for the
class is not necessary. Baptisms are
celebrated each Sunday of the month,
immediately following the Noon
Mass. Please call the Parish Office if
you have questions. Our next class
is June 4!
PLEASE KEEP IN YOUR
PRAYERS the family and friends of
Walt Gairing who died recently. May
our risen Lord grant him eternal rest in
His heavenly kingdom.

Fifth Sunday of Easter “Do not let your hearts be troubled. In my Father’s house there are
many dwelling places, otherwise, how could I have told you that I
was going to prepare a place for you? I am indeed going to prepare
a place for you, and then I shall come back to take you with me,
that where I am you may be. “Lord,” said Thomas, “we do not
know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus
told him: “I am the the way, and the truth, and the life; no one
comes to the Father but through me. If you really knew me, you
would know my Father also. From this point on you know him;
you have seen him.” John 14:1-7
The Rosary is prayed every
Wednesday
afternoon in May in the
church. Please join us!
“Woman naturally seeks to embrace that
which is living, personal, and whole. To
cherish, guard, protect, nourish and ad-
vance growth is her natural, maternal
yearning.”
