EMPLOYMENT REPORT - GRADUATES JULY 2016
#1 OVERVIEWThe Global MBA at EDHEC Business School earned prestigious Top-75 FT World MBA Rankings, top-25 in The Economist MBA Rankings and confirmed its position in France’s elite group of Top-3 MBAs. EDHEC sets itself apart with a truly diversified, experienced, and global cohort. On average, 2016 MBAs had 7.5 years working experience and moved into careers across a broad variety of industries and functions.
In 2016, the MBA job market in Europe experienced moderate to slow growth and stable salary increases with many firms reluctant to hire due to economic, political and societal uncertainty facing much of Europe. Key global markets like Dubai, Singapore and London have shown caution in hiring international profiles. France, on the other hand, has become the destination of choice for MBA graduates from EDHEC thanks to strong corporate relations and a favorable mobility climate for highly skilled international profiles. French and European firms expanding rapidly abroad in growth markets were more open to bringing in global talent.
The number of top-tier global firms hiring EDHEC MBAs increased in 2016, with Amazon Operations as the top employer, followed by firms like Microsoft, Amadeus, P&G, L’Oréal, Deutsche Bahn, Oracle, Sony and Facebook. Startups, Small and mid-sized company hiring grew this year, while 6% of MBAs started their own companies.
Global at heart, the 2016 class included 39 nationalities. 61% of the 2016 class were non-EU nationals. International mobility characterized this year’s class with 59% obtaining work outside of their home country. France was the largest recruiter of international profiles with 70% of those hired in France of non-French origin, a significant increase from 2015.
Technology was the preferred sector among 2016 MBAs, followed by a wide diversity of industries ranging from Financial Services, Consumer Goods (FMCG), Logistics / Operations, to Manufacturing and Healthcare. 26% of 2016 MBAs chose roles in Marketing/Sales, 24% in Operations/Logistics, 12% in General Management or Leadership Programs, and 12% in Financial roles.
Through the robust CareerSMART program and liaising directly with Global Talent Acquisition Managers to source the best candidates, EDHEC Global MBA Career Services has been ranked number one in France and among the top in Europe for the second consecutive year. Career change is often a key motivator for managers to undertake an MBA degree. 59% of 2016 MBAs made the “triple jump” changing function, sector and location; 86% made at least one change in their career after the MBA.

The multicultural environment inside the school represents EDHEC’s international and global attitude. The city of Nice, with its hot sun and long beaches, is a really exciting and well-planned location. There are 30 different nationalities from Europe, America, Asia and Africa with various aca-demic and professional backgrounds: A real life-changing experience!
Marco TRADA, ItalianMarketing Manager, MicrosoftMilan, Italy
For the past couple of years I was thinking of pursuing an MBA in order to move forward in my career. After intense research, EDHEC was the best business school to attend with regards to reputation, professional career development, internship opportunity and specialization options.
