from our Foundation Chairmanword of thanks
I am very pleased to announce theestablishment in September 2010 of the HighPoint Regional Health System Foundation, aprivate 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Whilefundraising has been conducted successfully formany years in support of High Point Regional, ithas become increasingly more critical in recentyears as cost reduction pressures havemounted from all sides. In order to effectivelymeet the challenge of gaining morephilanthropic support, our Executive Director,Denise Potter, and the newly formedFoundation Board of Directors set out to makeour Foundation a reality. Our entire health
system greatly appreciates their achievement in reaching this goal.
In order to properly announce our new Foundation and to better informits supporters, we decided that this new era of the High Point RegionalHealth System Foundation should be marked with a new quarterlymagazine. As a result, you are now reading the first issue of GivingLife, Health & Hope. This launch edition includes a pictorial of severalevents and activities that have occurred throughout the year in supportof the hospital. In upcoming editions we will be covering compellingtestimonials and stories from both patients and clinicians about howyour contributions to High Point Regional are making a powerful impacton those served by our hospital.
I want to sincerely thank you for keeping High Point Regional strongand for helping to make it the hospital that it is today. We are deeplyappreciative of your interest and ongoingfinancial support and look forward to bringingyou exciting news about High Point Regional infuture editions of our Foundation magazine.

5 Fall 2010 &Life, Health Hope 6Help us provide exceptional health services to the people of ourregion. Give Life, Health & Hope.
Incoming Board MembersThe holidays are fast approaching. It’s a time ofgiving and receiving and if you aren’t sure of what togive to family, friends or business associates on yourlist …consider making a contribution to yourcommunity hospital. Your gift can be made inrecognition or in honor of someone special.
That’s the message that David Moore, MD & CandyFenn, annual fund volunteers of the High PointRegional Health System Foundation, are sendingin the hope that everyone will consider placingthe hospital in their year-end giving plans.
“As a practicing physician in this community, Iwant to both give and receive quality, state ofthe art healthcare right here in High Point”, saysDavid Moore, MD. “As a former member of the HighPoint Regional Health System Board of Trusteesand now a member of the Foundation Board, I knowthat it has been through strong financial support ofour Endowment and Annual Fund that we have
been able to offer specialized patient care programsand technology for the patients we serve. Thecontributions our hospital Foundation receives arecrucial to our community’s families having localaccess to the high level of care all of us expect. These gifts are also crucial to our community’sphysicians having the most up to date equipmentthat we expect to best serve our patients.
I just want to urge and to thank everyone that isjoining me in making a year-end contribution to the
High Point Regional Health System Foundation. Ibelieve it is a gift that will keep on giving long pastthe holiday season. Most importantly, it will helpassure that the medical care we expect is availableto our family, friends and neighbors whenever weneed it.”
Candy Fenn couldn’t agreemore. “I just can’t imagine what High Point would be without ourhospital,” says Candy. “Godhas blessed our city with manycompassionate, skilled
physicians and healthcare providers at our greathospital. My husband Bill and I are fortunate to beable to support High Point Regional because wehave both witnessed and experienced thecompassionate care here and it is especiallyheartening to know that type of care is provided for thousands of men, women and children everyyear regardless of their ability to pay. I can’t think of a more important charity for us all to support inthis community.”
