HailingfromDulwichHillsherepresentedAustraliainsixTests.Throughoutthe1937seriesinEnglandsheopenedthebowlingintandemwithfellowquickNellMcLarty,capturing6/144atanaverageof24.Notonlyafastbowlerandshewasasolidright-handbatter.SheplayeddomesticcricketforNewSouthWalesasbothan

openingbowlerandbatter.

ForAustraliaAmydebutedaged18playedinnineTestsbetween1935to1951.ShewastheonlyAustraliantogoonthefirsttwoWomen’sCrickettoursabroadin1937and1951,inacareerthatwasinterruptedbythe2ndWorldWar.AmyHudson,HazelPritchardandMollieFlahertyallplayedtogetheronthe1937AustraliantourtoEnglandandfortheNSWteammanytimes.

AstylishbattersheplayedalongsideAmyHudsonandMollieFlahertyin1937onthefirstAustraliantourofEngland.Onthetour,shewasAustralia'smosteffectivebatter,scoring306Testrunsatanaverageof51.

HerperformancesdrewcomparisonstoDonBradman,andshewasnicknamedthe"GirlBradman"–aseriouscompliment.

Duringthetour,AustraliaplayedMidlandsDistrictandHazelachievedanotherfirst–acenturybyanAustralianwomaninEngland.Sheeventuallyscored144notout.

HazelmadeherNSWdebutin1931attheageof17.Duringthe1936–37season,shescoredthefirstcenturyinwomen'sinterstatecricket,retiringoutafterscoring144againstQueensland.
