b) Description of the tasks:
1.1. Project Meetings (EGEC)
EGEC invited partners to the kick-off meeting in Brussels ( 20 & 21 June 2011)
and APPA organized the 2nd project meeting on 11/11/11 ; and TNO the 3rd one in
Utrecht (11 & 12 June 2012); BRGM the 4th one in Strasbourg (6/11/2012); GFZ the
5th one in Postdam (16/4/2013).
CNR organizes today the 6th project meeting (7/10/2013).
N° of work package: 1 Management
Duration in months: 30 EGEC
1.2. Project reports (EGEC)
EGEC coordinates the managerial and financial reporting.
•First Progress report (covering months 1-9): month 10 > March 2012
•Interim project technical and financial report to EC (covering months 1-16):
month 17 > October 2012: submitted in December 2012, approved in
February 2013, paid in March 2013
•Final project technical and financial report to EC (covering months 1-30):
month 32 > December 2013
•Final publishable report in English: month 32 – see WP6
N° of work package: 1 Management
Duration in months: 30 EGEC
1.3. Project monitoring (EGEC)
The consortium monitors the impact of the project through the number of new
geothermal power projects as performance indicators: (see slide: Performance indicators and targets)
> Based on EGEC Deep geothermal market reports
The project has a set of ambitious targets and indicators to measure the impact and
performance of the action. In order to ensure that these indicators are effectively
monitored during the project implementation a monitoring plan had to be
discussed and agreed by the consortium at the Kick-off meeting and reviewed
in each project meeting.
Monitoring plan
A factsheet “Geothermal electricity market” will present the monitoring of the
Geoelec targets.
1.3. Project monitoring (EGEC)
a monitoring plan
Methodology
D1.2: Factsheet on Geothermal electricity market (month 7-19-30)
A factsheet “Geothermal electricity market” will present the monitoring of the
Geoelec targets in Dec 2011, Dec 2012, Sept 2013.
N° of work package: 1 Management
Duration in months: 30 EGEC
Main Performance indicators and targets within the project duration
• 4 more EU countries with geothermal power plant projects: Czech Rep., Hungary, Spain, UK, Romania, Belgium, Slovakia, Lithuania • Corresponding to 100 MWe new capacity installed: tbc • 10 oil and gas companies and utilities with concrete project ideas to build geothermal plants in Europe: Shell, Statoil, ES, MOL, Eon, PPC res, Sorgenia, ENEL GP, EnBW, Geopetrol, Moore… • 5 new regional/national regulatory frameworks on geothermal electricity: Hungary, Belgium, Italy-regions, UK, NL, … • Minimise opposition from people of neighbouring regions against geothermal power plants: tbd • 50 project developers use the protocol for public acceptance: quid
N° of work package: 1 Management
Duration in months: 30 EGEC
Targets beyond the project duration until 2020 Strategic Objective(s) of your proposal Target by 2020:
Help member states in
reaching their national
target of the new RES
Directive
More than 12 EU member states produces
electricity from geothermal energy
The total European installed capacity is more
than 4 GWe in 2020
Obtain the support of the
general public
Environmental impact of geothermal
development is minimized
Public acceptance is not anymore a barrier
Create the necessary
skilled workforce to install
geothermal electricity
plants
3 more countries launch similar training
courses
100 new engineers/technicians are trained
every year
The geothermal sector employs more than 20
000 new workers by 2020
Reduce the costs of
geothermal electricity
production
Have a cost less than 0,10 €/KWh by 2030
N° of work package: 1 Management
Duration in months: 30 EGEC
