We began the week Sunday evening with a Classical Guitar performance by Jeffrey Bianchi. The
primary aim of a musician is to take the results of their hard work and make a positive
impact on as many lives as possible. For Jeffrey Bianchi, this is accomplished through his
performances. As a dedicated musician for 20 years, playing for an audience is an essential and
natural part of his life. Jeffrey is doing his solo tours cross country and stopped at Galloway Ridge!
We kicked off the week with a Health Fair in our Auditorium. Complimentary health screenings
such as blood pressure, pulmonary function test, blood glucose screening, bone density screening and
more. Vendors provided information on various topics including: cardiovascular health, stroke, diabe-
tes, vascular health, joint health, nutrition, eye care, foot care, hearing equipment, dermatology, fit-
ness and more! Attendees enjoyed healthy snacks provided by Galloway Ridge. We braked in the af-
ternoon with a taste of the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous by watching the TV seriesRevenge, host-
ed by resident Beverly Chapin. She led a discussion group before and after the showing with themed
refreshments.
Ending our first day of Active Aging Week with Martinis with Marilyn Monroe in the Belties Lounge.
Residents were invited to stop in and mingle with Marilyn over a martini. Marilyn sang a few songs for
us and was available to take pictures with all her fans.
Tuesday residents were able to take helicopter rides above Galloway Ridge and around the area
Following the helicopter rides there was a champagne reception with coconut shrimp outdoors where
you could watch everyone else go up in the air and fly. This was the highlight of the week, as many residents had never been in a whirly bird before.

Wednesday breakfast was served outside of the cinema where residents were invited to come have
breakfast with famous authors. We had the DVD series of famous authors and residents had break-
fast with Jane Austen, George Orwell and John Steinbeck. That afternoon we had a volunteer fair
hosted by our own resident volunteer groups who also invited outside associations who were in need
of volunteers. Dinner was served buffet style in the Auditorium for Old Time Comedy Night. Resi-dents were laughing like audiences did decades ago! They enjoyed an evening of comedy with mate-
rial from Red Skelton, Cid Caesar, Abbott and Costello, George Burns and Gracie Allen, The Bicker-
sons, Milton Berle and many more!
Thursday residents were invited to treat themselves in our salon where
we had pedicure and manicure specials all day long. A group of residents went
out on a scenic 2 hour guided tour of the beautiful Jordan Lake by pontoon
boat with a chance to see bald eagles, osprey, great blue heron, cormorants,
and other types of wildlife. In the afternoon we had a fashion show for the la-
dies hosted by Chicos. Four of our residents took a trip to Chicos earli-er in the week to pick out two outfits to wear in the fashion show. Dur-
ing the fashion show, emceed by Chicos store manager residents
learned fashion tips, what not to wear, and slim secrets.
We ended the day with a poetry reading by resident Ned Cooper in our
living room followed by a wine and cheese reception.
Friday residents were invited to treat themselves in our salon where we had shampoo and set
specials all day long. We really wanted to make our residents feel like they were getting the ultimate
treatment, therefore, all day Thursday and Friday in the salon you were given a glass of wine and
horderves will you received any service in the salon. We also provided free chair massages in the sa-
lon on Friday. We ended the week with our main event, Champagne Reception at the Garden Terrace
at Fearrington Village and then a Red Carpet Event with dinner and entertainment in the Auditori-um at Galloway. The Champagne Reception was across the street from Galloway Ridge at a neigh-
boring community in their beautiful Garden Terrace area where our residents were treated to an
hour of beautiful live violin music, chilled champagne, and hors doeuvres. Then two stretch limou-
sines brought all the residents back to Galloway for the Red Carpet Event. A red carpet was laid at
the entrance to our new Auditorium where the paparazzi snapped photos of the residents all dressed
up as they entered our beautifully decorated Auditorium for a surf and turf plated dinner. Followed
by a performance by Tim Beasley in a musical celebrity impersonation as the Martini Men. This
was a three-act show featuring Tim in individual performances as Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and
Tony Bennett.
