AGC Mission • The Austin Galano Club (AGC) is a non-profit corporation formed
to serve the recovering community of Austin and surrounding
areas, specifically for the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual,transgender
community, their allies, and serving all 12-step based programs
and related activities. The club is focused on providing a facility
and operational support for the meeting spaces for such groups,
as well as providing social, community education, and service
opportunities to the group members served. The club will operate
to further provide a place for the recovery community to have a
safe, affordable, comfortable place to gather, whether for a
meeting or for social purposes. Although focused on serving the
GLBTQ Recovery Community, AGC welcomes all persons in
recovery, or supporting those in recovery, without regard to race,
color, creed, or sexual identity or orientation.

HistoryWhat started as a vision to figure out how to buy a building
for one group turned into so much more…providing a home
for the breadth of GLBTQ&A recovery in Austin.
• Mar - Jun 2011o Some interested parties got together to see if there was interest
o June 2011 wrote the business plan, because there was interest
• August 2011o Formed a Board of Directors from original exploratory committee
• Sept 2011o Decided on the name, Austin Galano Club
o Opened bank account
o First Members started joining

o Invited our first group to rent meeting space
• April 2012o Secured current lease for space from Odd Fellows
• June 2012o Opened doors for Austin Roundup event on June 30
o Lambda Live and Let Live held first meeting July 1 at 11:00 AM
• July 2012o 9 groups at opening
• 5 AA, 1 NA, 1 Al-Anon, 1 CMA, and 1 OA
• $10,000 in the bank
• Brand new club and no idea what to do
