The British InternationalSection is a bilingual andbicultural education.It combines the traditionalFrench curriculum with theBritish curriculum.High-level Language-Literature and History-Geography classes are addedto all regular subjects fromthe French curriculum.It offers a Britishpedagogical approach toliterature and historygeography.
It is a challenging streamrequiring academic abilityand as well as motivationand commitment fromstudents and families.
At the end of the final year,OIB Students take extraexaminations in Literatureand History / Geography,examined in English. Manygo to anglophoneuniversities.
THE SCHOOL
The LFID is a state school, founded in 1977 as the French School Colette. It became the French International School Marguerite Duras in 2010.
Today in 2021, the school has 1210 students, all taught on the new Long Binhcampus. The school offers a French Stream and a British International Section, all under the supervision of a whole-school Headmaster.
The LFID has strong academic standards an employs highly qualified teachers and staff.
The LFID is linked by convention to the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), a national administrative body. This convention guarantees that the French curriculum is taught according to the French Ministry of Education guidelines, and is an official exam center for the French national examinations (Brevet and Baccalaureate).
THE FRENCH STREAM
The French Stream followsthe programme of theFrench ministry ofEducation. The secondaryschool prepares the studentsfor the DNB in 3e (DiplômeNational du Brevet), andthe French Baccalaureatein Terminale.The school offers manyforeign languages: English,Chinese, Spanish andVietnamese.Students can also choosefrom a wide choice ofoptions: Arts, Music, Latinand Drama.
