Fraternity & Sorority Life at WSU

What are Fraternities
and Sororities?
• Social organizations at Colleges and Universities that are designated with letters from the Greek alphabet.
• Social Aspect (philanthropic outreach, networking, professional and personal development, etc.)
• Categorized by:• Single-sex membership• Life-time membership• Identifying symbols (Greek letters, motto,
handshake, crest, etc.)
In Order to Join…1. Have a 2.5 cumulative GPA.2. Be an enrolled, degree-seeking student at Wichita State University (main campus).
Each member agrees to:1. Honor the bylaws of their chapter and governing council.2. Abide by all city, state and federals laws, and will honor the Wichita State University
Policies and the Student Code of Conduct.3. The electronic release of their grades and GPA each semester to Student Involvement, my
chapter President, chapter on-campus advisor, chapter off-campus advisor and national office, for the purpose of Scholarship programs, academic support advising, for chapter grade reports, and in compliance with FSL policies.
4. Acknowledge their awareness of the University’s and my Chapter’s policies regarding hazing, and pledge that they will work to eliminate all forms of hazing practices found within their chapter.

How to JoinInterfraternity Council1. Do your research!2. Follow chapters on
social media and reach out to the President or their recruitment contact.
3. Attend a designated recruitment event.
Multicultural Greek Council1. Do your research!2. Attend the MGC
Informational (Fall and Spring) and the MGC Yard Show (Fall) to learn about all of the chapters before you make your decision.
3. Attend an Informational for the chapter you are interested in.
Panhellenic Council1. Do your research!2. Register for Fall Primary

1. Held in August prior to classes starting.
3. Continuous Open Bidding (COB). Held after the completion of Primary Recruitment in August or in the Spring semester.

1. ALL facilities are privately owned by the organization and are not under the control of the university.2. ALL facilities have a Housing Corporation comprised of alumni that regulate the facility.3. ALL facilities are alcohol and substance free.4. ALL facilities are inspected regularly by the State Fire Marshall.5. Living in the facility is optional.
