Foundation Diploma in HR Practice
Course overview: This is a CIPD Foundation level course which you will study over a period of 6-8 months. This is flexible if the competency
route is taken. It provides a firm foundation in all the areas of HR, as well as an understanding of HR in a business
context. It will help you develop practical, essential HR skills and above all, will give you the confidence to be more
effective at work and add value to your HR function. It is foundation-level qualification and is designed to reflect the
CIPD HR Profession Map and the new professional membership criteria.

Developing Yourself as an Effective HR Practitioner (4DEP)
Understand the characteristics of an effective HR professional, the concept and reasons for continuing professional
development. Assess your own professional development needs and preferred learning methods. Be able to develop
and review an appropriate personal development plan (PDP)
Understanding Organisations and the Role of HR (3HRC)
Understand the business objectives of an organisation, the main activities of the HR function. Knowledge of key
employment legislation
Recording, Analysing and Using HR Information (3RAI)
Understand the needs for accurate employee records. Use HR information systems. Awareness of legal requirements
Resourcing Talent (3RTO)
Factors that impact on resourcing. Undertake key activities in recruitment and selection process. Understand the
legislative requirements.
Delivering Learning and Development Activities (3DLA)
Undertake the planning and delivery of learning and development activities
Supporting Good Practice in Performance and Reward Management (3PRM)
Knowledge of performance management. Understanding of motivation theories. Conduct a formal review.
Understand the data management.
Supporting Change within Organisations (3SCO)
Undertake the drivers of change, people’s reactions to change, and change management techniques.
Supporting Good Practice in Managing Employment Relations (3MER)
Understand the impact of employment law at the start of the employment relationship, the main individual rights that
the employee has during the employment relationship and the issues to address at the termination of the employment
relationship.
