Language Training Solutions
The Academic Programs division of the Graduate School offers a variety
of innovative language training solutions, from short-term immersion
to intensive and semi-intensive courses, in 30 languages and dialects. Inaddition to our popular evening and weekend open enrollment courses,
we offer customized solutions for organizations and agencies with specific
training needs.
Highly qualified language specialists work with organizations to identify
training needs, develop learning objectives, and design programs using
appropriate and innovative methodologies to maximize language
acquisition.
Translation and Interpretation
Services
With an extensive network of experienced and
academically trained instructors, the Graduate School
offers the highest quality translations, interpretations
and voiceovers by certified linguists. Our goal is to
provide translated documents that read as if written in
the target language, and clear and concise interpretation.
Whether you are looking for simultaneous
interpretation for a hearing, voiceovers for recorded
materials or legal document translation, the Graduate
Schools experienced project managers will assign the
most appropriate linguist with a background in yourfield to meet your needs.

Examples of Customized Language Programs include:
I Intensive Arabic, designed for the U.S. Army, helped prepareparticipants for an overseas assignment by providing 200 hours oflanguage immersion over a six-week period.
I Russian for the Office of the Secretary of Defense provided weekly,small-group intensive training for officers and civilians in the Officeof International Security Policy/Eurasia.
I Small Group Chinese (Mandarin) and Arabic Classesfor the Officeof Naval Intelligence helped participants acquire the listening,speaking, writing and reading skills needed for their assignments.
I Spanish on the Hill, taught early mornings to accommodate fullpolitical calendars, has helped prepare more than one hundred
members of Congress and their staffers to communicate moreeffectively with their constituents.
I Spanish for Parking Enforcement Officers, provided to the D.C. Department of PublicWorks, taught critical terminology and phrases to assist officers in interacting with theSpanish-speaking community.
I Translation and Voiceoversfor the American Evolution exhibit at the Corcoran Gallery of Artprovided museum visitors and patrons highly professional recordings of exhibit informationin Spanish.
Critical Languages
Our innovative programs include training in critical languages and dialects in a variety of formats,from short-term immersion to longer-term, semi-intensive classroom training. Responding to increasingneed on the part of defense organizations, the school now offers customized iso-immersion programs incritical need languages including Arabic, Chinese, Pashto and Urdu.

FacultyOur highly competitive selection process requires instructors to have a minimum of four years experience inlanguage acquisition training, in addition to appropriate academic training. The goal is to select effectiveinstructors who can also provide students with cultural contexts for the language and use personal experienceto present unique customs and traditions.
All of our language courses can be customized to meet your organizations unique needs and brought to yourlocation. Those marked with an asterisk are open to the public and are offered as regularly scheduled eveningand weekend sessions in our Washington, D.C. classrooms.
