Footnotes “Dancing just for the Fun of it”
Established 1983 September 2016 Indianapolis, IN
Special guest column By Don Mindach, Indy Dancers DJ No need to say it but dancing would not
be the same without a large supply of
great music. I know I would look silly
dancing to nothing! But seriously, have
you wondered how your dance hits are
selected at Indy Dancers?
The club now has four regular DJ's: Harriet Fishburn
(club mix and favorites); Don Mindach (for club mix, new,
unusual stuff); Jeff Coss ( club mix and country), and Rog
Greenawalt (for great Ballroom music). We all work, often
unpaid, to provide the best entertainment possible at all
club events. Our diversity in tastes and styles insure the
best dance songs are played. And we guarantee that no
two Indy Dancers events are alike!
You may not know that only Indy Dancers DJs play
never-released music with special remixes. So each
night, we provide a unique mix in music. I always try to
play a few tunes that the club has never heard before.
Many times new music will become club favorites after
the crowd initially stands and stares at each other when
they first hear them. Ultimately, if the crowd likes it, we
will play it! And we make sure not to overplay music.
So you can see that much thought and planning goes into
each event. Please let Indy Dancer DJs know if you like a
song or if we overplay a tune. And don’t forget – we take
requests!!
And one last note: Indy Dancers is in compliance! This
club and our many venues endeavor to adhere to all
applicable copyright laws in accordance to guidelines
provided by BMI and ASCAP. We have checked!

Volunteer opportunities! Help make Christmas special for Veteran’s Home employees Indy Dancers has been invited to dance during the employee Christmas party at the Indiana Veteran’s Home in La-fayette, Dec. 9 from 1-3 p.m. These employees are dedicated to taking care of our aging soldiers who have served our country by making sure they have a quality of life. As part of their Christmas party, we will dance to Indy Dancer’s signature music, as well as engage employees in a simple dance lesson and we need as many people to participate as possible! Please consider giving a little of your time to join us for this very special party. Contact Don Mindach or Rhonda Bennett if you can volunteer.
Help Wanted! Photographer Do you enjoy taking pictures of your grandkids? Do you enjoy taking selfies? Do you enjoy taking pictures of your friends at ball games? Do you enjoy posting pictures on Face Book? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then Indy Dancers needs YOU! If you are handy with any kind of camera, consider volunteering to take pictures during Indy Dancers events for the newsletter. Attendance at every dance is NOT required. See Rhonda (who desperately needs help) for details! THANKS!
Thank you to all the club members who participated in our dance at the state fair!! It was so much fun!!
