What is Glass ?
Glass is a rigid material formed by heating a mixture of dry materials to a viscous state, then cooling the ingredients fast enough to prevent a regular crystalline structure.
As the glass cools, the atoms become locked in a disordered state like a liquid before they can form into the perfect crystal arrangement of a solid. Being neither a liquid nor a solid, but sharing the qualities of both, glass is its own state of matter. It is used to make windows, drinking containers, and other articles.

Glass manufacturers Process
The glass manufacturing process mainly divided in two parts.
Float Glass : It involves the manufacturing of sheet glass.
Glassblowing : It involves the manufacturing of various bottles & other containers.

• Batch Mixing: The major glass ingredients of silica, sodium carbonate, calcium carbonate and recycled glass are mixed with minor materials in a rotary tumbler.
• Batch Melting: The glass mixture is poured into a furnace. It is heated to 1400°C to start, but the temperature will eventually reach 1540 °C.

• Cooling and Molding: Then it is cooled by cool air for several minutes. It then enters a forming machine, which molds it in sections by cutting off sections of glass.
• Quality Control: The most important part of manufacturing process. Quality control ensures that the raw ingredients, glass mixture, melted and cooled forms and final products meet certain quality and safety requirements.

Making glass is a very ancient process, with archaeological evidence of glass making dating back to before 2500 BC. Once a rare and prized art, manufacturing glass has become a common industry.
Glass products are used commercially and in the home as containers, insulators, reinforcing fiber, lenses and decorative art.
